Story
How do we find contentment in God when we feel so hidden? Sara Hagerty unfolds the truths found in the biblical story of Mary of Bethany to discover the scandalous love of God and explore the spiritual richness of being hidden in him. Every heart longs to be seen and understood. Yet most of our lives is unwitnessed. We spend our days working, driving, parenting. We sometimes spend whole seasons feeling unnoticed and unappreciated. In Unseen, Sara Hagerty suggests that this is exactly what God intended. He is the only one who truly knows us.

Story
If you're a woman, chances are you know the cycle: You start the day already exhausted and end it defeated, all the while telling yourself things will get better if you can just power through this week. But then the weeks turn into months, and you start to believe you'll never be able to stop, slow down, or catch your breath. You wouldn't even know how if you tried. And yet God has made you for a life of abundance, not a life of exhaustion. It's time to quit the unsustainable pace and receive God's gift of realistic rest.

Story
Too often, we feel disappointed with our "right now"—our life circumstances, our relationships, our progress, our daily grind. We want to do so many things—good, godly things—but our situations don't allow us to step into them. Are we missing out on our own lives? Why does right now seem so far from where we really long to be? Bestselling author Ruth Chou Simons reminds us that it's okay to not like the right now we've been given, but we don't have to like it to lean in.

You don’t always have to give in to what the world, your family, or your own self declares is the way things are “supposed” to be. God desires goodness and joy for us. God, Jesus, and the Spirit went to great lengths to offer you and me the best good news ever. In Why Can’t I Get It Together?, Jamie Ivey, host of The Happy Hour podcast, guides us through six areas of our lives that are affecting our perception of God’s love in our realities. Dig deep into God’s Word to see what it says about why we keep sinning, how to stop, and what God feels about us in the midst of it all.

So much of our belief can be formulaic. We often think that if we do A, B, and C, then God will do X, Y, and Z. We check things off the “Good Christian Checklist,” trusting we’ll be okay, and our trials will be minimal. But when our experiences inevitably deviate from that belief, our trust in God often crumbles. After a series of life-altering trials—including a devastating diagnosis—uncovering faith in the cracks of pain is something Kristen LaValley knows well.

Through personal experience and countless conversations, speaker and Bible teacher Jennie Allen has come to realize that most of us need to unlearn some deeply damaging messages about our emotions. We've been taught, for example, that emotions are untrustworthy when, in fact, they are a gift from God to help us notice what is wrong and where we need to heal. Your emotions are not something to suppress or ignore. They are meant to be felt, examined, and shared.

Every parent and teacher wants to give his or her children the best education possible. They hope that the teaching they provide is a joyful adventure, a celebration of life, and preparation for living. But sadly, most education today falls short of this goal. For the Children's Sake imagines what education can be based on a Christian understanding of the meaning of life and what it means to be human—a child, a parent, a teacher.

It's unnerving, isn't it? When our faith feels ungrounded, untethered . . . unreal. When our certainty is adrift, as though an undercurrent has pulled us away from shore into the deep, into the darkness. And if this is you—if you're in a dark night of the soul—please know that you are not alone. (And you are not as far away from safety as you may feel or fear.) The night is not your enemy. In fact, the night is necessary. Revered author, speaker, and mentor Dr. Alicia Britt Chole offers a groundbreaking perspective that reveals spiritual disillusionment as an unexpected friend.

Publisher's summary
Read by the author.
Are you feeling stretched to your limits and wish those limits weren't there at all? Bestselling author Sara Hagerty asks: "What if your greatest weaknesses—the areas of your life you resent the most, the places where you feel the most overextended and unfulfilled—are your doorway to rich intimacy with God? What if your limitations were, in fact, your greatest gift?"
It's all too much. Too much laundry and too many bills. Too many appointments, meetings, and open tabs on our browser. Yet in the midst of so much, we feel deprived. Limited. We make another family dinner while shelving our passion for art. We tend our tiny patch of grass while envying the time our neighbor has to garden. We go to bed exhausted, too tired to enjoy a few minutes with our own thoughts.
As a writer, speaker, and mother of seven, Sara Hagerty knows what limitations feel like. Yet she has also seen how the boundaries of our life circumstances can bring about growth and satisfaction we'd never experience otherwise. With the poetic voice, gentle validation, and deep spiritual insights that have made Sara's books so popular, The Gift of Limitations explores how to:
- Name the limitations that haunt us and how we have unknowingly given them power
- Open our eyes to what God can do with the weaknesses we resent
- Discover what God's Word says about living within our limitations
- Understand what embracing our limits looks like in everyday life
- Recognize when we are pushing ourselves too far
- Understand how God sees weakness and how He has used it in the lives of great believers
- Dream again while remaining tethered to God's best story for us
- Release the shame and frustration of our weaknesses
In The Gift of Limitations, you will learn to see the beauty and peace God provides in the midst of our life circumstances—and the deep spiritual growth we can experience through the limitations that we once thought held us back.

The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Story
The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Story
The book of Enoch was thought to be lost for over 2,000 years until, in 1773, a traveller brought three copies back from Ethiopia. Whether or not this ancient book was actually authored by Enoch, the father of Methuselah and great-grandfather of Noah, is an ongoing debate among historians and theologians. But all recognise the book of Enoch as one of the most important apocalyptic works outside of the Bible.

Turning the other cheek does not mean standing by while the enemies of God dismantle Christian civilization and brainwash our children. Decrying the cowardice that masquerades as meekness, Eric Metaxas summons the Church to battle. An attenuated and unbiblical “faith” based on what Bonhoeffer called “cheap grace” has sapped the spiritual vitality of millions of Americans. Paying lip service to an insipid “evangelism,” they shrink from combating the evils of our time. Metaxas refutes the pernicious lie that fighting evil politicizes Christianity.

The Qur'an, believed by Muslims to be the word of God, was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad 1,400 years ago. It is the supreme authority in Islam and the living source of all Islamic teaching; it is a sacred text and a book of guidance that sets out the creed, rituals, ethics, and laws of the Islamic religion. It has been one of the most influential books in the history of literature. Recognized as the greatest literary masterpiece in Arabic, it has nevertheless remained difficult to understand in its English translations.

Story
In the age of fingertip access to answers and a limitless supply of ambitions, where do we find the God who was birthed in dirt and straw? Sara Hagerty found him when life stopped working for her. She found him when she was a young adult mired in spiritual busyness and when she was a new bride with doubts about whether her fledgling marriage would survive. She found him alone in the night as she cradled her longing for babies who did not come. She found him as she kissed the faces of children on another continent who had lived years without a mommy’s touch. In Every Bitter Thing Is Sweet, Hagerty masterfully draws from the narrative of her life to craft a mosaic of a God who leans into broken stories. Here readers see a God who is present in every changing circumstance. Most significantly, they see a God who is present in every unchanging circumstance as well.

Born White in the heart of Zululand during the racial apartheid, Lisa-Jo Baker longed to write a new future for her children—a longing that set her on a journey to understand where she fit into a story of violence and faith, history and race. Before marriage and motherhood, she came to the United States to study to become a human rights advocate. When she naïvely walked right into America’s own turbulent racial landscape, Baker experienced the kind of painful awakening that is both individual and universal, personal and social.

Too often, we feel disappointed with our "right now"—our life circumstances, our relationships, our progress, our daily grind. We want to do so many things—good, godly things—but our situations don't allow us to step into them. Are we missing out on our own lives? Why does right now seem so far from where we really long to be? We check things off the “Good Christian Checklist,” trusting we’ll be okay, and our trials will be minimal. But when our experiences inevitably deviate from that belief, our trust in God often crumbles. After a series of life-altering trials—including a devastating diagnosis—uncovering faith in the cracks of pain is something Kristen LaValley knows well.

Sara’s writing is like water for a thirsty soul. Learning how to embrace “what is” rather than resist it has the potential to transform one’s experience of life and limitations. So grateful for this message!

Shifted My Perspective
The author dramatically shifted my perspective to view my limitations as an invitation from the Lord to slow down and be present here and now, not to be impatient for what comes next and how soon can I get there...and not to be bitter or compare my life to anyone else's or even to my past. She does a wonderful job in getting readers to see how God is working all things for our good... being limited for a season/seasons does not equal failure. And she reminds us that there are so many other people who would wish to have the "limitations" we have. Oh how I can relate to so much of what she wrote. And I'm definitely choosing to thank God for hemming me in. Thank God for the blessing of little ones who make messes and noise and fill my day with all the "too much" lol. Whatever stage of life a reader is in, this book can inspire you and challenge you to see the current fences and limitations as the boundaries that God is setting in your life for your good and it can be a beautiful thing.

Loved this book
This book was so good. So beautifully written and relatable. It felt like every page put into words what I’ve been feeling and going through with my own limitations. It was encouraging. I needed a better rest, a surrender, understanding of the “come, die, grieve, live cycle” and that peace, “the rest of a settle soul”. I’ll definitely be rereading this book and give it all the stars (and some extra for the adoration in the audiobook).
“And I suppose it didn’t feel like much of a loss until I found it again- that deep, guttural “I need nothing more than I need You” worship- and remembered that I am most alive when I worship. Finally alive.”

The Cry of My Heart
This book is beautifully written and the author’s voice on the Audible makes it absolutely breathtaking. God places fences - limitations - in our lives for our good and His glory. Knowing this doesn’t make the fences easier to live with, but it becomes an opportunity to draw near - to abide.
Thank you, Sara! Even more… Thank you God. I adore you…

Deeply refreshing and nourishing
A decade with disabling illness has forced me to face life within the limitations of my body: extremely limited energy, chronic pain, unpredictable symptoms, exorbitant medical costs and profound medical mystery. Over the past year, God has been guiding me to acceptance and a release of pursuing answers. He has taken me through the journey Sara describes as death, grief and resurrection so many times. He hasn't given me a medical miracle, but He has miraculously restored my Living Hope myriad times. This is the greater miracle. Listening to her audiobook this week has been a tremendous balm for my soul. Although our limits are vastly different, our God's desire within the fenceline is similar. This book affirmed so many moments when God has gently pried my white-knuckled fingers off broken dreams and held my heart. He has brought tremendous beauty through His presence with me and given me more than health could provide. Sara's voice through the audiobook along with her adorations made this feel like a friend holding me in a hug and God coming near us both. I highly recommend this to anyone longing for more of God, particularly in challenging situations that aren't changing.

Limitations can be a gift
Thank you Sara for your writing, like a letter to the reader, of your thoughts.
A lot of the time we see boundaries and limitations and bristle and fight but Sara helped me to see limitations to be Gods gift of love to me.
