About this listen

Daniel: I suck at relationships and don't trust anyone, but there are reasons for that. For one thing, every person I've ever cared about has let me down. The only recent exception: O'Leary's town veterinarian...my new best friend.

I came to O'Leary for a fresh start. To pare things down to essentials. To forget about the failures in my past. The last thing I need is complications, and most definitely not a boyfriend.

Julian: I've lived in O'Leary my entire life and learned to fly under the radar a long time ago. I do what's expected, say what's expected, and keep to myself as much as possible. It's a hell of a lot simpler spending my time working with animals than trying to interact with actual people. The one unlikely exception: the gorgeous guy who moved to a cabin just outside of town and somehow became my best friend.

But friendships are complicated, and one morning I find myself accidentally telling the whole town the biggest lie of my life. Which is how Daniel Michaelson, my very straight, very hot best friend becomes my fake boyfriend, even though he's most definitely not my lover.

Biased Review
I have a soft spot for stories featuring a guy who thinks he straight and learns that maybe he's a bit crooked. Plus, I rather like the small town vibe of this series.

GREAT SERIES!

I am loving this series! While this book doesn't beat the first book, this book was still great! Well written and narrated.

In order to protect Daniel from the watchful eyes of small town folk that don't trust Daniel because he is anti-social, Julian claims that him and Daniel are dating. The thing is...they aren't- Daniel is his best friend...his straight best friend (or so they both think). So happens that all of the bonding they have done as friends may have brought out some feelings in Daniel that he never would have expected. Fake boyfriends, turns to real boyfriends. But with secrets that Daniel does not want to come to light, can they really have a chance?

This is a great book and I loved watching how their relationship developed.

Can't wait to see what's next in this series!

How are they going to take it away when I paid for it? Someone please explain?

Amazing story!

May just has a way of pulling you into the word she creates! The story had my emotions swinging and pulled me completely in! There were so many twist and turns and she has you routing for the main characters and screaming at them by the end.

Enjoyable, despite uneven narration.

Going out of my usual order, I will start with the narration - which hurt the story for me. This should have been narrated by Toma. He demonstrated in the opening chapter that he was fully capable of handling a range of voices. However, someone got the really bad idea that alternating chapters with wildly different narrators was the way to go. To be fair, this is about the best narration by Cendese. However, since I consider him to be among the most egregiously overrated narrators in the business that isn't saying much. Cendeses never takes a freaking breath - he manages to to just spew lines without a pause for any reason. As if he is being paid words per minute.

The story is actually quite charming. Archer has a way with the small town trope. Who doesn't love a sad guy who runs an owl to the vet? This is a title that I would encourage you to read, skip the wildly uneven narration.

Love Is A Gift

I love how these two men have started with a strong friendships. I love the fake relationship troupe. It is a time of change for Daniel and Julian is also growing a bit. I like how these two fit together. There are a couple of moments but they work things out and both come out better men.
I listened to the audio version and it was well done and enjoyable.

Really enjoying this series

Julian makes me laugh and Daniel makes me cry, but only because of the beautiful heart he has. But I’m angry at him for not opening up to Julian sooner. The secrets are a killer but a nice surprise in the end!! As always Iggy Toma is an awesome narrator. I can’t get enough of his voice!!!
