Story
Juliet only wanted to see her childhood home one more time–to look at it from the street. She never intended to meet the new owners, let alone talk her way into a position as their new live-in nanny. But it's too late now to tell the truth about who she really is. Six-year-old Kitty has progressive mutism and cannot speak. Nobody knows why she keeps making silent phone calls to the police. Juliet makes it her mission to find out. As Juliet settles into the house, nostalgia for her childhood gives way to uneasiness, as troubling memories surface.

virtual voice
hard to get into the story the virtual voice is very flat. book was really good excellent plot twist. surprise ending. would have been much more enjoyable with an actual person reading as it would have given more depth to the emotions of the characters.

poorly written
Seems like a teenager wrote this. all kinds of repetitive statements. how long can you talk about having a cup of coffee. AI did a horrible job with pronunciation of some words- not the authors fault but distracting...

Didn't like the virtual voice at all. mispronounced words and sounded choppy.
More work needs to be done with the tempo of the virtual voice and the way it pronounces words.

The robot reading! It made an otherwise great story feel unreal! The robot voice was annoying! Where are the real people?
The Robot voice is quite annoying and I missed the voice of a real life person! Just no connection and it took away from the overall experience! 😢🥺

Paid by the Word?
This storyline had such potential and wrapped up nicely but getting there was painful, So many lines were repeated I had to talk back to the narrator.

Well, huh...
Virtual Voice is ok at times. Real readers are better. I saw the twist a mile away. Very little scare, mostly sisters fighting. I got through it, barely....

Was OK…
I thought I would enjoy another paranormal mystery in this book. Unfortunately, that was not the case. First off, the storyline was very predictable and droned on with unnecessary details with a very lackluster ending. The characters felt unlikable. Storylines left completely unfinished. I usually stay as far away from the virtual read books as I can. I did not realize this was a virtual reading and started listening anyway. I needed to hear the end so I stayed with it. But I really wish audible would stop using these virtual readings. It is such a disservice to authors. It makes me not like the book at all or avoid the book at all costs.

AI voice is awful!
I couldn’t make it past the first chapter. That AI voice is dreadful. I have never quit on an audiobook before.
