Uninteresting

After reading The Chancellor, this book comes off as superficial and uninteresting. It lacks insight into the personality of Merkel, which is essential to understanding her politics and actions. It's not bad as a historical overview in itself but loses in comparison to Kati Marton's rendition of the story.

The German Chancellor Angela Merkel

Overall, I enjoyed this short biography. I would have liked to have hear the personal information at the beginning. Being American, I have virtually no understanding of Germany's governmental structure or of it's numerous political parties and seemingly ever-changing alliances. A little history and background there would have been most useful.
