About this listen

For Kate Mitchell, finishing her master's thesis on reclusive photographer Reed O'Connor was just another item to check off her list. She knew exactly what she was doing. Or did she? There's just one portrait that doesn't fit. One portrait... and the passion she sees behind it. Finding the story behind O'Connor's picture becomes Kate's obsession, and the people she meets will challenge everything she thought she knew about life, love, and inspiration. A single picture can tell more than one story. And in the end, Kate discovers that every real love story is a unique work of art.

Now I can sleep

I could not sleep until I finished this book. I usually only listen to audio books when I'm working, but I couldn't stop until I heard the last sentence. I loved this story. Well written, well performed, and well , now I'm sad it's over.

Artsy romance

Great group of friends with a dynamic couple at the center. How do the relationships work when the heart is broken? It is all set in an art community with creative and headstrong personalities. Love it.

loved it

I love this author and I have read the story more than once. I adore the crabby H, Javi. sometimes it's hard for me to get into the story when one voice actor is doing male and female parts. I was distracted by this for the first 20% or so, but it grew on me and soon I didn't notice. very good performance, she nailed Kate and I really felt the emotion behind this beautiful story. I will definitely listen to this one again, which I think is pretty high praise.

Interesting story

I was very surprised by this unique story. It was well written, intelligent and well performed.

A masters student is doing her thesis on a well known photographer and finds a photo that captures her imagination and piques her curiosity. She finds out that her professor and friend and his wife are friends with the man. Some interesting tidbits on his life are exposed and she takes off on a journey of investigation of the photographer as well as one of self discovery.

This was a free read/listen for me as a kindle unlimited subscriber but it would definitely be a story I would purchase or use a credit on

Read/listen you won't be sorry

A story that pulls you in

It took me a while getting started on this story, but once I did, I couldn’t stop listening. The story drew me in with an intensity that I forgot the world around me and visited New York and so many places in Southern California. I loved how the story played out. How intertwined the two love stories became as the story unfolded. The narrators did an amazing job with it as well.
I warmly recommend this is to others.

Sweet and Romantic

The story was a discovery of love and lovers, and the things life does to encourage and destroy it. There are more than one set of main heroes and heroines in here. I really enjoyed they it went back and forth between the past and present to tell the characters' stories. Very well written indeed.
The narrator did an excellent job with capturing the emotions throughout the story of both male and female characters. I look forward to listening to more audio books by her.

Slow start but got better

The early chapters seemed cliched, and I was sure I could guess how the story would develop. I was pleased, however, when a mystery appears that the main character proceeds to unravel over the remainder of the book. The art references & personalties are still somewhat insubstantial and stereotyped respectively, but tolerable. Entertainingly narrated.

Genius and the Muse

How Hunter manages to infuse so much story and real characters into one book is amazing!

An interesting read

I liked reading about all of the creative, gifted characters. Some of the other reviewers complain that this work is too different than her Elemental Mysteries. I think it's unfair to expect a book about artists to be as action-packed as one about vampires. It stands alone, as I think every good book should. It was beautifully written and I really enjoyed listening to this piece.
