Publisher's summary

From the curious clauses in a miser’s will, to a plea for help on a tiny scrap of paper, these six cases, from the early years of Holmes’s career in the 1880s, present a singular collection of mysteries for the world’s first consulting detective to resolve.

What is the significance of the arrival in the post one morning of a cardboard packet of children’s bricks? Who is the man found dying in a deserted warehouse in London’s East End, and what is he doing there? Why have the names of a couple of young honeymooners been removed from a hotel register? Sherlock Holmes must find the answers to these and many other puzzling questions if he is to bring these cases to a successful conclusion. In this new collection of Sherlock Holmes short stories, well-known author, Denis O. Smith, accurately recreates once more both the atmosphere and the excitement of Conan Doyle’s well-loved original Holmes tales.

Yowza! Another winner!

The Literary Agent would definitely have approved of this collection of tales. The author has a good feel for Holmesian storytelling. The vocabulary felt authentic, and the details seemed correct. All in all, well written.

Now the narrator. He is excellent. Flat out! He has a slightly different voice for Holmes, making him a baritone or even a bass, as compared to the more common tenor (possibly in conscious or unconscious imitation of Basil Rathbone).

Definitely well worth a listen!

Just like if Sir Arthur had written it

written as well as the original stories and in the same style. Narration was well done and brought the story to life.

Excellent collection of Holmes stoties

Dennis O. Smith has proven he is a master storyteller in the style of Doyle himself. It is hard for pastiches to have the "feel" of the Canon. This collection of shorts is excellent and can pass as a Doyle work. If I had one critical comment it is that Watson sounds much older than Holmes, a point that we know is not true. However, narrator Kevin Green pulls of some remarkable voices throughout the collection

Pleased listener here

Having heard many Sherlock Holmes pastiches, I found this one to be the best. The credibility of Holmes' inductions and interplay between Holmes and Watson make it worthwhile. Add in narration by Kevin E Green and the result is a fantastic listen.

Cozy Fun

An enjoyable collection of stories done in the classic style that felt quite comfortably at home among the Holmes canon. The author does a good job with both Holmes and Watson's characters and has created a nice collection of short, interesting mysteries with curious features that thoroughly entertain while avoiding falling into the trap of striving too hard for melodrama.

Very weak, not very Shelockian

Weak slow boring stories.
Annoying performance.
Don’t waste your time.
There better post Doyle Holmes books out there.
