About this listen
Like his parents Andy and Laura Friessen, Gabriel knows what it means to face an impossible situation. When he puts up an ad looking for a roommate, he never expects to meet a down-on-her-luck gorgeous single mom with a meddling family, a crazy ex-boyfriend, and enough chemistry between them to heat a county. The only problem is she doesn’t believe in happily-ever-after and sees falling in love as a mistake only fools make. But Gabriel can’t stop thinking about her, wanting her, and is determined to show her the road to love isn’t as dangerous as she believes.

Everyone in Cedar Creek, Texas, knows Jack McNight is an arrogant devil. Physically, I get it: he’s tan and fit, with coal-black hair that’s clearly been scorched by hellfire. Oh, and his personality? It burns just as hot. When I show up on the doorstep of Blue Stone Ranch, I’m run-down and rockin’ my last pair of underwear. I’m hoping for a savior, but instead, I find him. My opinion of Jack is marred by a dismal first impression, but his opinion of me is tainted even before I arrive. He’s heard I’m a spoiled princess there to take advantage of his goodwill.

The First Time I Saw You
Gabriel is out on his own and wants to work things out without needing his family to help. When he decides to rent out a room in his house to help cover expenses, he gets so much more than he expected.
Such a sweet story... Lorhainne Eckhart knows how to pull you right in while still keeping it real.
Lili Dubuque did a lovely job with the narration. A very enjoyable listen.

Sweet, yet hot story about young love.
The Friessens books are full of alpha male heroes coming to the aid of down-on-their-luck women and I really enjoy reading and/or listening to the stories. The First Time I Saw You is about Gabriel, Andy and Laura's son. He rents a room in his house to Elizabeth and her daughter, Shaunty. When he finds out that Elizabeth's ex is bothering her he begins to feel very protective even though they've only just met.
Reader's who don't care for insta-love type stories may not like this one but I know real-life couples who fell in love in less than a week and remained married until one of them passed away so this kind of story doesn't bother me at all.
This is the third book I've listened to performed by Lili Dubuque and I really loved listening to her voice. Her smooth, lilting tones were very soothing and calming and helped make the time I had to spend doing chores must less tedious.
All of the books in The Friessens series are great romantic stories and this one is no exception. I look forward to reading more books in this series.
