About this listen
Linked to his computer at birth, David Klein's brain was a mere add-on enhancement. Absorbing the complete knowledge of humanity was trivial. Solving the problems of the world was easy. But girls and other humans are beyond him. Even with all his knowledge, David needs to learn through trial and error to see himself as anything other than a monster. He gets help along the way.
The narrator is Steven McGarry. The synergy between Steven's accomplishments as an actor, singer, and software engineer, made him well-suited to narrate The First AI Cyborg. His knack for accents and character voices breathed life into the dozens of characters with ease. As for the singing, you'll just have to listen to the book for that...

Story
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength. George Orwell once wrote of a world where abuse of power begins with an abuse of language and a bastardization of truth. Some of today's most exciting voices in speculative fiction explore the ramifications of those ideas in Ignorance Is Strength.

I highly recommend this story
Just one person read this story, so performance rate low, not to diss that performer's skill. His voice as ComHead's girl friend is even more whiny than the script. That being said, the story and overall is very good. Transhumanism is a rather new thing, and this story looks at it well. It raises your consciousness to this evolutionary philosophy, and since it is extraordinarily important (not least because the sooner you augment the better off you'll be) it elevates the importance of this audiobook. One other thing: technological improvement is exponential - like compounded interest is to the Singularity Feedback Loop. Do you understand what this implies for the next 20 years? Time and space constraints prohibit me from elaborating further. Ever hear of the Neuralink (Musk's company)?

A Hidden Gem.
Ok I will start by saying that I was surprised to find out my uncle wrote a book, but I had to check it out. This is my honest review as a huge fan of this type of book.
Pros:
Fast moving. Never get bored.
Funny. I found myself laughing out loud and some of the oddities of the story.
Fun. Just a super fun story, almost making you jealous that you aren't the same as David.
Cons:
Fast moving. Sometimes I wanted more of a certain situation.
Abrupt ending. I was sad that it ended without much conclusion (only to find out book 2 is coming.)
Ok, So this is not your typical young boy story. This is a true sci fi type fantasy of a life we all sort of wish we lived. You follow a young boy through his teen and into very early adult life. You might want to smack him one second, then be his best friend the next. He is truly a mastermind with the common sense of a sheltered teen, which lends itself to many funny and somewhat awkward moments.
This seems to be aimed at a younger generation although nearing my 40's and I still loved it. I would put it on the same level as books such as ready player 1, or armada, books designed to take you to another place. I found myself doing a ton of thinking of the future while listening to this story.
Some have said the 1 reader wasn't enough but as someone who's listened to probably a thousand books having 1 person read is not a bad thing nor is it abnormal. The reader did a great job of making all the different characters stand out, even a computer.
If you're looking for a light, fun and interesting story to read I highly recommend you check this out. You won't be disappointed.

Not for my generation
This was written and performed for young gamers, not for people with scientific training who are in their 70s. It seems immature.
