About this listen

The time of our immortality is at hand.

An undeciphered language in Crete. A rash of mysterious disappearances, from Bolivia to Japan. An ancient warning at the ruins of Babel. And a new spiritual leader, who claims that human history as we understand it is about to come to an end.

Seventeen-year-old Daniel Calder's world falls apart when a freak accident brings personal tragedy—and he discovers there's a link between the accident and a wildly successful new cult, the Seraphim. Catapulted into a violent struggle for humanity's past and future, he's not even sure who the enemy is, or if he's battling a phantom that doesn't exist. But as Daniel puts his life on the line, he is forced to conclude that our very survival as a species will depend on who, and what, we choose to believe.

A fresh story!

What made the experience of listening to The Fire Seekers the most enjoyable?

The narrator was.perfect for the cast of characters, complete with believable accents! The story was fast paced, interesting, dramatic, light hearted, with dark overtones. Fabulous and diverse research had to have been done for all of the subject matter covered in this story. Not for the faint of heart! Suspend a little judgement and disbelief for unlimited funds and somewhat unrealistic capabilities in a teenage kid/kids. You gotta roll with it in order to enjoy the ride! Thoroughly fresh and enjoyable.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Fire Seekers?

Daniel's story about helping his dad pull off a museum heist (photographs only!) as a kid!

Have you listened to any of Scott Merriman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed several times.

Any additional comments?

I enjoy Daniel's dry wit and matter of fact self assessment, in comparison to the geniuses surrounding him.

Not a bad story. Just once, when I hear narators pronounce Ancient or modern Greek words, would actually use the Greek pronunciation. Instead they use the romanised version. It a makes no sense and B is insulting to us Greeks who hear it. Do try to get a Greek speaker to advise the narators. Authenticity...what a concept.

Towers/Angels/Demons

Would you try another book from Richard Farr and/or Scott Merriman?

Yes. This book was a great start with a storyline that was based on the mystery surrounding the Tower of Babel and the emergence of Babylon. It was a fantasy and a thriller with many questions raised, answered and unanswered. And unlike many young adult novels, the story was conveyed from the sole perspective of a young man which is not always the case for this genre.

If you’ve listened to books by Richard Farr before, how does this one compare?

This is my first.

Have you listened to any of Scott Merriman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first. Scott Merriman's abilities are phenomenal!

Did The Fire Seekers inspire you to do anything?

Research the story of the Tower of Babel. Think about the tower being a mountain versus a building....Consult the historical references for BC era events, including biblical

Any additional comments?

So the main character had some surprise fighting skills. Get over it. Harry Potter fought Voldemort at 3 years old. I 'm not sure some of the nay sayers see what I see. Given more time and a higher word count, this book could really be the start of a phenomenal series that is neither an epic copy of Tolkein but more of a Edgar Allen Poe take on biblical history with a sprinkle of the unknown and paranormal. I'm anxious to read the next book from the perspective of the sister.

interesting concept.

The theory this book circled was well done and plausible. The characters were solid and easily to relate too.

Outstanding narration. Interesting premise.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes. It has a unique basis.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Most interesting--the premise. Least interesting--way too detailed in parts and dragged. It was very in the weeds at times.

What does Scott Merriman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Outstanding narration and amazing accents!

Was The Fire Seekers worth the listening time?

Absolutely.

Great story

The story is unique and interesting. I'm always looking for something new and this certainly filled that bill.
I was blown away by the narration. The characters come from all over the world, and the accents for them are all done perfectly.
I've already downloaded the next book in the trilogy, and pre-ordered the final book.
I'd highly recommend this book to anyone of any age looking for something new and interesting.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

The fire seekers

The book starts slow and then becomes very hard to follow. The confusion kept me from finishing book 1.
