About this listen
Loyalty costs money. Betrayal, on the other hand, is free. When the emperor is taken hostage, the Red Knight and his men find their services in high demand - and themselves surrounded by enemies.
The country is in revolt, the capital city is besieged and any victory will be hard won. But the Red Knight has a plan. The question is can he negotiate the political, magical, real and romantic battlefields at the same time - especially when intends to be victorious on them all?

Just a little too many similar characters
Some of the characters blended into each other making it difficult to distinguish between them. Apart from that it is a good story that is well performed

Splendid
I listened to this series about once a year. It is astounding. It is one of the most intriguing and clever fantasy series I have ever read or listened to.

Brilliant story, excellently read.
A tale filled with historical fighting tactics and enough fiction to keep you satisfied. Matthew Wolf reads the saga masterfully, his voice almost meditative.

Trying too hard
The First in the series was ok , ok enough to get the second in the series. Big mistake it just tries too hard to get too much in. Not for me, probably didn't help that I'd just re listened to Joe Abercrombie's first law series. Too big a step down in writing and narration.
