About this listen

Vienna Stratton knew she only had herself to blame. You didn't let yourself become indebted to a man like Dane Davenport, no matter how badly you needed his help. As his personal assistant, she was very aware that the globally successful CEO was ruthless and unforgiving.

Of course, if she'd known he'd request that she be his wife for 12 months, she'd have hesitated in accepting his help. Because what she'd learned from Dane was that the devil wasn't ugly and terrorizing. He was seductive and captivating. He hummed with whispers of temptation - the temptation to sin and surrender, to let him brand and possess you. He awakened every need and fantasy you had.

He could even make you love him.

Contains mature themes.

Lovely Story

I have lots if this authors books in my library. I love her writing style. This new contemporary romance is now on my fave lists. I hope she writes more of these. The only negative is that the narrator did not simulate from character to character very well. Often I couldn’t tell who was speaking.

The Favor

This was such a cute book definitely worth a credit. I think my only complaint is that I wish the book would of had both points of views of the main characters. I had a hard time of trying to figure out the male character and what he was thinking. I get that he is supposed to come across distant and all but I just feel like you don't really know him by the end of the book. But all and all very good 👍

True Suzanne Wright style writing.

As a true fan of Suzanne Wright's shifter series, I am always pleased her "human" books are just as well-written.

This one is worth the time it takes to listen.

Well Done!

Finally, a heroine I don't want to slap consistently and a book that doesn't rely on stupid misunderstandings or the heroine making asinine decisions in order to create drama. Plenty of shenanigans on the part of the side characters to last a lifetime. Smart Funny and quite enjoyable. A very good way to pass time on a sleepy Sunday.

Beautiful... well worth the read / listen

This is a beautiful book. I don't know how else to describe it.
it has romance, drama, treachery and a HEA.

What started out as a fake marriage brought out so many secrets and drama. Lies get revealed and plots get uncovered, right until the end.

I was surprised by this author bringing out this type of book as I am used to her writing paranormal work.

Although it is a romance, it also addresses so many issues we live with. Mental illness, physical abuse and how other people perceive other people when they believe they "know" them.

It was an eye opener to me on some issues that I wasn't aware of.
well worth the listen/read.

The characters were real

I loved this book because the personalities were not too far fetched like in some romance.

wish there was more

This was great. I don't often like modern day non-paranormal books because they either go too far into abusive, feel too unrealistic in the insta-love, go super reliegious, or go super boring. But this one rode the like between abusive and healthy in a believable way, avoided the insta-love issue by giving time for a strong and healthy working relationship to develop first, and avoided boring in sooooo many ways. The sex was steamy, the relationship was hilarious but also touched on some interesting derious subjects, and overall I am really glad I took a chance on this book and this author. Now I wish there was more with this series as 2 of the other characters sound like they might have very interesting extra stories from the epilogue, but I am also happy to start reading Suzanne Wright's paranormal series next since that is my normal cup of tea and this book hit all the right buttons for me. ^_^
That said: definite trigger warnings for physical abuse, domestic rape (he does give her the chance to back out the first time, but he is generally VERY forceful, demanding and possessive, basically not asking after that first one - she likes it, I like it, so it works for me, but might be a trigger for others), bullying, and certain psychological disorders.
The author is extremely sensitive in their approach to DID/multiple personalities and PTSD (aside from lack of trigger warning) but insensitive or not understanding some of the more social disorders such as sociopathy, narcissism, and social anxiety. In particular, one of the friends constantly says he is a "good" sociopath, which is so over-used as an insult for (a) people who don't socialize in a neurotypical way and/or (b) people who don't follow the same moral code as the speaker that it has become a trigger insult for myself, but also certain neurodiversity groups. It doesn't help that, while I don't think the author meant it, a lot of the mMC's behaviors are easily interpreted as one of a few overlapping neurodiverse diagnoses. I think the way fMC shut it down each time was good and healthy for her personality, but the fact that it came up more than twice (once to introduce, second to demonstrate appropriate shut-down) and presented as almost an inside joke at the reception was a problem for me, so I wanted to mention it in case it is even more of a trigger for someone else.
