Publisher's summary

In a discontented kingdom, civil war is brewing. To unify the divided people, Conner, a nobleman of the court, devises a cunning plan to find an impersonator of the king's long-lost son and install him as a puppet prince. Four orphans are recruited to compete for the role, including a defiant boy named Sage. Sage knows that Conner's motives are more than questionable, yet his life balances on a sword's point - he must be chosen to play the prince or he will certainly be killed. But Sage's rivals have their own agendas as well.

As Sage moves from a rundown orphanage to Conner's sumptuous palace, layer upon layer of treachery and deceit unfold, until finally a truth is revealed that, in the end, may very well prove more dangerous than all of the lies taken together.

An extraordinary adventure filled with danger and action, lies and deadly truths that will have listeners clinging to the edges of their seats.

And don't miss the highly anticipated fourth book in the series, The Captive Kingdom, coming October 2020!

Entertaining for the whole family!

I listened to this on a car trip with my 4th and 7th grade sons and we all enjoyed it. We can't wait to listen to the second book!

My Review

I loved everything!!! The way that Mr. McWade read it so that each character had a different voice was awesome. And how Mrs. Nielsen wrote it was phenomenal! this was an awesome book!!!

A Prince In Hiding? I'm In!

I enjoyed reading about an unexpected prince hiding his identity, even knowing he could be killed. It was a good twist on an old trope.

Enjoyed it

I really liked this story but I think the performance was underwhelming with female characters. Also sometimes it was hard to tell the characters apart.

Great characters and plot!

the characters developing throughout the book are phenomenal, 3d, and relatable. the plot has many twists and turns, yet never loses its charm.

Completely enjoyed!

What did you love best about The False Prince?

Sage, the main character is well written, a bit sassy with a lot of heart.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sage. He's the narrator. He gets himself into scrapes because of his stubborn streak. Reminds me of people I know.

Which scene was your favorite?

Can't pick. It's just not possible for me.

Any additional comments?

This is a great book for younger readers, although I am a mom in my 30's and loved it. No swearing, no sensuality, very little violence. The violence that it does contain is not graphic. I enjoyed Charlie McWade's narration.
