About this listen

The difference between a man and a robot is not that one has a soul. The difference is that man can choose to ignore it.

The Uberbots have taken over. The few human survivors remain hidden.

Returning from an excursion that began before the revolution, Thomas walks through his ominously silent city until he comes face to face with his creation: the Uberbots.

Captured and imprisoned, Thomas is brought before the Uberbots and given a task only he, as the creator of the Uberbots, can achieve. While keen on escaping, Thomas quickly learns the Uberbots are not easily overcome.

The Fall of Man is a thrilling post-apocalyptic tale of the events leading up to and immediately following the AI revolution. And at its core, The Fall of Man is a profound meditation on what lies at the essence of our humanity and in finding hope in darkness.

Enjoyable listen

I enjoyed it. The story is unique. If you enjoy post-apocalyptic sci-fi you will likely enjoy this book as well. I'll be on the lookout for the next in the series.

not bad but it needs more setup and flow

note: I received a copy of the audiobook for free. no promise to review but I feel it's just what's right.

let me get the simple stuff out of the way first. the narration is rough. audio seems clipped and the character voices have no real inflection. pretty much like NPCs in a game. just needs anb arrow to the knee. the story is ok. needs a better set up and more natural flow, but the premises behind it are pretty good. character development is lacking. while the MC had some, the rest of the cast was just... there. needs more world building as well.

on to the spoilers
the feel of 1984/skynet/iRobot influences are obvious. the story itself has a good amount of potential and the premises behind it are good. the risk/reward of trying for a utopian society and the failings of hindsight are always interesting points. I just wanted more setup and to care more about the world or characters.
