Publisher's summary

2019 - The most up-to-date guide about fatherhood that will encourage you with facts and humor.

The word "parenting" can cause all sorts of nightmares in your head right now, and if it is, congratulations. No seriously, congratulations! This means you’re not an idiot, and you are aware of the difficult task that lies ahead.

Society often tells us dads that our job is to simply provide financial support and leave the caring part to our partners. Well, I’m here to tell you that this is utter nonsense! That whole spiel about how women are biologically attuned to be more nurturing while men are better off running around chucking spears at things? Baloney!

However, the news of having a baby is 10 parts bliss but approximately a million parts terrifying, and I can guarantee you that your partner has her nose deep in all sorts of books on how to get through the next nine months and beyond.

With this book, you will:

Learn about the health of your baby and partner

Get a structured month-by-month overview of everything that’s ahead of you

Get prepared practically and financially

Learn how a pregnancy affects men physically and emotionally, too (without feeling squeamish about it)

Be a better partner and an awesome dad!

The Expectant Dad’s Roadmap is the most fun way to grow as a soon-to-be parent, and your ticket to enjoy this magical time.

Awaken the dad in you!

Great book

Clear, concise advice and tips. The text is funny and the narration is excellent. While some advice may not apply for all couples its a great overview.b

A fair bit of choppiness in the editor’s room

So far, I’m enjoying the book pretty well - this is the first of five first-time-dad books I just got - but there seem to be some problems every now and then with the editing. As a performer and writer myself, I wonder if the narrator is really capturing the tone that the writer intended. But the real stumbles seem to be on the editor’s part as passages end mid-sentence followed by a second or two of silence and then either where the sentence left off or a whole new sentence, or the middle of a new sentence. And to boot there are times where two passages are played overtop one another. I’ve never heard this in an audiobook before so I wasn’t sure how harshly to rate this.

Mostly good...

I would say so far this is the better of the books I have listened to in preparation for our baby. Honestly, though I am getting so sick of the statements in these books, this one included, that tell me how I am going to feel about something and I'll just need to push through essentially. These books just assume that anything my wife will want to do I will not be excited about and that it will be healthy for me to "just suck it up and do it with her". Naming, setting up the nursery, talking about things, planning, etc. Just because there are old tropes and stereotypes of men from the 1950s in regard to pregnancy doesn't mean anything to most men today. I'm not even progressive or liberal and this type of thing in these books is annoying me.

Good Information, Stability issues.

Good info in a concise package, but with about 1 hour and 12 minutes left in the book on there were significant jumping issues. About every 3 minutes there was a narration jump that would greatly confuse the message for the next message. Seems like a data stability issue that audible should work on.
