Acerca de esta escucha

Insurance litigator Leigh Collins has a knack for turning up that missing e-mail that wins the day or breaking down complex facts to sway a jury. So she's hoping to make partner with her latest case: cancer researcher Dr. Elijah Rhodes and his life's work are lost in a lab fire, and Biosolutions looks to cash in on a $100 million policy. Unfortunately, she's up against Daniel Rubinelli, assistant general counsel for the biotech giant, who has a personal vendetta against cancer. In court, Leigh and Daniel clash from the beginning, ensuring a grueling case.

But soon greater concerns emerge. The late doctor might have found a "kill switch" for cancer cells - potentially wiping cancer off the face of the earth. While most of his findings were lost in the fire, he likely backed up his data, though encrypted beyond recovery.

Now, in this edge-of-your-seat thriller, two contentious lawyers must set aside their differences to locate the research before the doctor's greatest discovery falls into the wrong hands...and the secret to life ends in death.

I listened to this suspenseful thriller and the story flowed well and kept me interested until the end. I enjoyed narrator as well. He did a great job.

very well done

I'm enjoying listening to Rick Acker books. I needed to find a new author to read and listen to. This is the third book of his I've listened to. In trying to decide which book to listen next, I read some reviews. One review of this book stated they did not like the narrator. I realize some people expect a performance but I find narration of different voices strange. We don't read a book thinking in different voices. Some narrators sound ridiculous. I found this narrator did a fine job. It was pretty easy to distinguish the different characters. I believe that is the point of using different voices. After all an audio book is not intended to be a Broadway performance.

Great Book.

We’ll-written story that holds your attention from beginning to end. Descriptions and dialogues are realistic and believable even with the sci-fi element. Really appreciate Acker’s Christian faith background that brings a clear moral foundation to the story without becoming preachy or overbearing. We’ll worth the read.

Great legal mystery with sci-fi twist

The Enoch Effect audio book desperately needs either a narrator capable of credibly doing male and female voices or both a male and a female narrator. This audio book is literally unfit to listen to due to the limited voice range of narrator Timothy Andres Pabon.

Fortunately, the price of the Kindle and Audible versions combined purchased at Amazon is less than the cost of the lowest priced Audible credit, so I already had access to the Kindle version which I read after trying unsuccessfully to listen to the Audible version.

Rating the Kindle version this is a 5 star read. Rating the audio book the narration is so confusing and distracting that it is worse than 1 star.

The Enoch Effect is about an almost successful attempt to literally enable humans to live forever, to end human death due to "natural" causes. It deals directly and intelligently with the advantages and disadvantages of such a medical breakthrough. It could be considered a legal thriller because the lawyer are fighting, or a medical thriller since The Enoch Effect deals with fundamental medical issues, or maybe it's contemporary sci-fi. I recommend the ebook version of this novel, but I cannot recommend the audio book version due to narration issues.

Read the Kindle version!!
