Acerca de esta escucha

The 12th title in the series finds the Wind River Reservation without another one of its sacred petroglyphs. The Red Cliff canyon has been home to these sacred petroglyphs, and their accompanying sacred spirits, for a few thousand years. Seven years ago, however, one was pried out of the canyon and stolen.

Travis Birdsong sits in prison for killing his partner in the crime. He has always maintained his innocence in the death and has never been tried for stealing the petroglyph. Attorney Vicki Holden decides to take the case, much to the chagrin of her law partner and lover Adam Lone Eagle and the Wind River Reservation tribes. Vicki is convinced that Travis must be innocent because another petroglyph has been stolen out of the canyon. She is even more convinced after the thieves contact the mission priest, Father John O'Malley, in order to get the tribes to buy the artifact back.

As Father John tries to get the petroglyph back and Vicki tries to prove Travis is innocent, the two situations collide.

Santa Fe backdrop adds mystique to a pleasantly paced who done it. One of the best readers in the biz no question

Perfectly read

The first narrator in this series was perfect. I could barely listen to this new narrator.

Wonderful series- narrator quality dips in this one

I've enjoyed other books with these characters more. I found the reader whiny and because of that distracting.

Not as good as earler

My son introduced me to this author and I am so glad that he did. Her books are wonderful .I particularly like this one. Her female main character cannot seem to overlook the individuals of the tribe rather than the ruling body and I like her dedication to the individual. It was, as usual, a great read.

Great Book !

... but, this being my first time reading Coel, here are some things that ran through my mind. I loved the characters, and I loved the Historical setting ( Wind River, Native Americans, etc etc), but I felt this story was a little drawn out, dragging in some areas.

I want to like it more...

This performance did not do justice to a great story. The reader repeatedly mispronounced every place name in the book: Washakie, Ethete, Popo Agie, Dubois. The author effectively used locale to set scenes and verify the setting which was paramount to the storyline. The narrator should have done her homework.

Excellent story, Poor narration

I loved it! I think all Margaret Coel’s stories are “page-turners, “and the narrator was great.
Can’t wait for the next one.

This narrator mispronounces many place names. Other narrators are more appropriate for Margaret Coel's work.
The story is typical Coel, and is quite interesting.

Andrea Bates isn't the best narrator for Coel.

I like this book series but the narrator for this book is not a good fit. some of the place and native people's name were miss pronounced badly. the reader for me was hard to listen to.

why

the story is great but something about the performance of the reader bothers my. the reader's voice inflections were sometimes annoying, seemed like at times overscting and at other times seemed to miss the point and detracted from the story. sorry to be harsh but the story is of the same quality as Tony Hillerman. perhaps I should have read it rather than listen.
