Publisher's summary

As a research grunt at a local television station, Abby Baker tends to blend into the background, which is where she's most comfortable. But when she ends up being the last resort to cover a hot story, Abby discovers a whole new side to her personality when she is possessed by a fiend---a type of rogue demon. Suddenly everyone wants a piece of her. And now the demon Rule---also a hunter of his own kind who have gone astray---is Abby's only hope. Meanwhile, the Others---vampires, werewolves, and witches, oh my!---have come out of the supernatural closet and the rest of the humans are all aflutter. Mischief is afoot in the demon realm, and Rule knows that Abby is key to figuring it all out before the fiends tip the fragile balance between the newly-discovered Others and the humans over into an epic battle. Now it's up to two lost souls to make love, not war.

Daring a Demon

Pretty good book, lots of good characters.I would almost call this book perfect with only one small exception, the narrators voice over for the character"Rule"was borish. It did not match the description of the character.Otherwise she did an awesome job with narrating the story and giving each character their own personality.Especially loved the possessed voices she created.Pretty cool.

A fun read

So this was the third book of Christine Warren's I've enjoyed.

The premise is one that's becoming almost formulaic: contemporary woman who's attracted to but has issues w/a hunky vampire/were/whatever. This book was fun because the woman is 'hosting' a fiend who's not just the sexist jerk he seems to be. Well, at least not all the time. The hero is a demon (as opposed to a fiend) and does his best to deny the relationship with the woman because he's too old/serious/whatever for her. .

There's more than enough sexy scenes to encourage you to not leave this where your younger listeners may listen to it -- but what makes the book unusual was the bickering/banter between the characters. Rather like Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plub wandering into a Laurell K. Hamilton book.

There's humor in all three of these books -- but it was a definite addition to this book. An apprecicated addition.

Interesting

Would you consider the audio edition of The Demon You Know to be better than the print version?

The audio is nice as someone else is pronouncing those names that you always wonder if you got it right. I like to listen to books while weeding or dusting, etc. Those mindless jobs goes by much quicker. Otherwise it just depends on my mood or activity.

What other book might you compare The Demon You Know to and why?

Each book of Christine Warren's is unique. Not maybe as intense as Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter books. It is paranormal but in a nice way. Hard to compare to other books or other authors.

Did Kate Reading do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

she did as well as anyone could do. No matter how good the narrator is, it is hard for a woman to do a man's voice. I was not really impressed with some her characters and the voice she gave them.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I found parts funny. Sometimes i get fed up when a female continues to carry on and determined to have it her way without using her brain. She did come to her senses but to my way of thinking, it could have been sooner.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the book and if you like paranormal but like happy endings, you will enjoy the book. I recommend the book.

Disappointed since I've loved this series

What did you like best about The Demon You Know? What did you like least?

I've really enjoyed the first 10 books in this series. Great characters, fun stories, very enjoyable. But this heroine is driving me crazy!!! I really don't like her at all. Yes, I understand that she's in a bad situation, but she is so annoying and reminds me of a 5 year old spoiled brat!!!! I'm only halfway through the book and I'm just going to have to give up on it. But I won't give up on the series. Like I've said, I've enjoyed the rest of the series. I wont let one bad apple ruin the rest for me. I've already downloaded the next book and am just going to move on! Luckily for the most part the books can be read as stand-alone even though it's a series.

Disapointing

I had decided to get this book after listeneing to a newer novel by the same author. Since I always enjoy the narrator and had enjoyed the other novel I thought this was a no brainer. Unfortunately I was wrong. It was boring and didn't really have anything happening to keep my interes... not even the sex scenes. To sum up, ho-hum. Drats another credit wasted.

Not as good as first 5 books in series

First books were fun sexual fantasies. Now it's just Jane Doe meets Demon GI Joe.
