About this listen

Chad Miller never intended on becoming a serial-killing, counterculture hero....

Like millions of young Americans pursuing the American dream, Chad is determined to create the life he's always dreamed of. Medical school, married to the love of his life, and expecting a child, it appears as though life is right on track.

When the American dream turns into the American nightmare, Chad's forced to quit med school and rethink his life. With the recession in full swing, day-to-day life becomes extremely difficult. The job market is in shambles, and he's only able to find two minimum wage jobs. With six-figure, non-dischargeable student loans tugging away at his soul, Chad ends up losing everything...except for his debt!

Banks, bill collectors, and bad credit push him over the edge. He relentlessly researches the elites and the draconian system that they've designed. Becoming a martyr for the poor and working class, Chad gives the rich pigs a taste of their own medicine. The phrase, "They should fry for that!" is commonly heard about politicians, bankers, and their counter parts. Chad Miller is about to see to it that the phrase is more than a figure of speech!

Shot guns and sharks and plane crashes, oh my!

Falling down- way down

A wild ride. The subject puts a new meaning to revenge- very creative but not for the faint of heart. Opens your eyes to how screwed the system is for the 98%. Bring on the next book!

Better than Dexter on Crack

I generally start off with what I didn't like about a book. Here, the only fault I can find is the narration itself. Williams has an odd cadence, and the pace is unnerving. Secondly his pronunications almost seemed forced, as if speaking in an easy going manner would have been hard for him. Thus, performance loses a star.

Now, Wallach does not hold back in any sense. He is graphic and caustic in his very visual descriptions of Chad's murders. In other words, this book isn't for people with weak stomachs or delicate sensibilities. A serial killer he may be, but he is not indiscriminate about it. Chad has a purpose in his actions, and Wallach skillfully makes the reader sympathetic to his character. Most especially when Chad loses pretty much everything important to him.

The book really gets dark when our boy Chad goes out looking for some real payback. He makes the Punisher look like a half blind 90 year old grandmother who is mildly annoyed. These are the scenes you won't want to read to your 10 year old!

I deeply recommend this for someone who likes black-hearted humor, twisted revenge tales, and dark twisted anti-heroes. Just don't expect to sleep for a bit afterwards, dreams may get disturbing.

Dish best served Delicious

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, a lot of my friends have the same sense of humor as me so they would definitely enjoy this book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Chad why of course. He was compassionate, sweet, caring, hard working and love how life could only put so much on someone that the anti-hero pig mask wearing Rich Pigller emerges.

What does Harry Roger Williams III bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The voices, oh the wonderful voices. I love his voice when narrating the story but when he does the voices of the rich scum or Pigller you get into the characters more. If its too much at first don't deter from it. You get used to it and see it when he speaks.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, every single time one of those f****** got what they deserved. This moved me in ways 50 shades of grey move lonely suburban house wives.

Any additional comments?

I was ecstatic to find out this is only book one. Please please please Mr. Eddie Wallach we need to keep this story going. I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.

Loved it!

Never heard of this author before, but the cover art and description really caught my attention. I'm so glad I gave it a shot! If extreme horror and splatterpunk aren't your thing, you should probably skip it. But since those are my favorite genres, I think I may have just found a new author to keep my eye on. I can't wait to check out more from Eddie Wallach!

Wtf did I just listen too.!!!!

Would you listen to The Debt Hex: Slay the Elite again? Why?

It sure I would but it was a delightful book to hear just some parts were too much I actually gagged. Specially with the judges.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Rich Pilger. His revenge was calculated and unique. Crazy and fun but sometimes hard to listen.

What about Harry Roger Williams III’s performance did you like?

At first I found him too cheerfully but once I understood the book it fit and he did a wonderful job bringing Rich Piggler to life.

If you could take any character from The Debt Hex: Slay the Elite out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Rich Piggler. Want to pick his brain on why he decided on how he would kill each character.

Any additional comments?

I got this book free for a voluntary review. The author and the narrator made this book fun and I have to say it is now in my mind to be Hostel for the book world. This is definitely not for children or even some adults.

College debt gone wrong

As a college student with. Large debt load and no degree along
With a wife with a degree and a loan debt I feel for the characters in this story. That being said let me say why I have a 4 not a 5. Some of the torture of the powers that be behind the debt hex is graphically sexual and quite gory and descriptive in nature making it adult oriented only. That being said get ready for one hell of a weird and wavy ride brought to an amazing life by a talented narrator. Extreme!

I am glad I'm not the one who had to do research on this book. All I'm going to say is, I hope anyone who listens to this has a very very strong stomach and no gag reflexes..

This is the first time I've listened to Harry Roger Williams lll. He does an amazing job narrating and his sound effects add to the horror of this audible.

I requested a copy of this audible for free and I am happy to leave my review

Not what I consider funny

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Wow... I am nearly speechless after listening to this book. It was extremely graphic and far more extreme than I was expecting. There is torture, rape, and murder. All described in graphic detail. Don't get me wrong, I DO like the horror genre, but this was categorized as humor. I just didn't find it...well, funny.

The insidious student loan...

We are presented with a detailed and depressing study of a young couple, Chad and Bel striving for the American Dream, but ultimately being crushed by credit card debt and student loans, while trapped in the clutches of a depressed economy. Sound familiar to anyone out there? Once things started going sour the downhill momentum increased, ensuring let down after tragedy. Comparisons are made to the practice of bankruptcy and even the return of defective products. No exceptions apply to student loans, period. In effect we are presented with a treatise on the dysfunctional aspects of the student loan bureaucracy and the cumulative affect debt can have on people under certain conditions. Between tragic loss and depression Chad lost it. Stay tuned to find out what happened to Chad and how he dealt with it. Tis a dish best served cold.
