About this listen

There are some lines friends should never cross, right?

Status quo might as well be Dashiell Cabot’s middle name. He has a job he loves, a billion dollars in the bank, and a best friend named Iris who keeps his personal life running smoothly. Why would he ever want to change any of that?

But when Iris Jacobs tells him she’s quitting and returning to culinary school, Dash’s beloved status quo is thrown into chaos. Even worse? The thought of her departure is forcing him to realize his feelings for her might extend beyond the friend zone.

Iris wants more out of life than taking care of Dash. She always has. And even though she could never repay him for everything he’s done for her, she can no longer afford to protect his precious status quo at the expense of her own dreams. She has no choice but to leave...unless he can give her a compelling - and possibly romantic - reason to stay.

They’ve always been just friends. That was their deal. But when all is said and done, something will be broken - either their deal...or their hearts.

MMC leaves a lot to be desired…

Maybe the worst MMC I’ve ever read. Does not redeem himself for his selfish and egocentric behavior. Total lack of self awareness and his friends deserve the FMC more than he does. I hate leaving bad reviews, I should have DNF’d this, but I reluctantly finished it.

Cute story

I liked this. It was a fun read and a quick one. The main characters had chemistry but I think they were better friends and at the end I wasn’t convinced of a HEA. More like a long long road to a breakup. I like this author I’ve read a few of her books but this one just feels forced writing with an upcoming deadline.

Welll…

The narration was perfect but the story fell really flat we spend most of the time watching the MMC mess up then at the end we skip EVERYTHING he does to make it right and go straight to happily ever after. I would have personally loved a lot more groveling.

Frustrating….

Dash is one of the dumbest characters ever. Brainless billionaire? I pushed my way through to the end but it was painful. His friends are the reason he has friends and a relationship and Iris is the only reason he has a house and is fed. He’s a man-child who can’t even dress himself. I wanted to like this book but it was just way too over the top with incompetence.
