Pronunciations and Pacing

This is always the big issues, narrators that are incapable of pronouncing common fantasy terms like scimitar (pronounced by this guy as skimitar), winding not like winding a clock but like wind the movement of air... and the way he pronounces Ghul just kills me, not only the "ga-hool" but the tone he takes when he does it. Terrible.

One of the great one.

I love this book! I have listened to it several times. It is just a wonderful story to listen and lose yourself within the world of the wee folk.

Good epic, though short on magic

Nice along the lines of Lord of the Rings as it was meant to be, but it would have been better with wizards. :)

Story is great. Narrator not so great

I loved these books growing up and they are pretty good as an adult. I think they would be better with a better narrator. I hate how he pronounces the names of the spawnen. And its hatd to follow him during the story. A better narrator would make this story sing and he has not done that. Still a good story but i find myself loosing track because of how he reads monotonously.

I have always loved this series.

This is a great series and I love this author. The Iron Tower trilogy and Silver Call duolgy both contrubuted to an intense love of the fantasy genre.

Great Adventure!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Mr. McKiernan offers you a great adventure that leaves you imagining how you would perform if you were part of the heroic group. You may even imagine yourself as a new character with unique strengths and intelligence that helps the heroes to win their battles within and without. You never feel like you are a spectator. You feel like you should be an active member contributing to their objectives and their ultimate goal.
Fantasy is like a sport in which you wish that you were there. Enjoy the sport!

What other book might you compare The Darkest Day to and why?

Terry Brooks Shannara Triology

Did Cameron Beierle do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Decent job
