Everyone hates Nigel. The humans and gorks want their amulet back and have declared open season on him in order to get it; his friends no longer want any part of his shenanigans; and his mom has kicked him out of the house.
If only he would destroy the dashed amulet, but Nigel is convinced he can use it for good. Unfortunately, his attempts at becoming a hero backfire, culminating in a disaster that threatens all life in Esteria.
Can Nigel save the world from himself? Find out in Dragon Squisher 2: The Crudge Whacker.

Story
Zach should’ve outgrown his imaginary friend by now. He knows this. He’s 11, long past the days when kids are supposed to go on epic make-believe adventures with their invisible friends. But after the death of his father five years ago, all Zach wanted was an escape from the real world. So his imaginary friend, Shovel, hasn’t faded away like the other kids’ have. Their imaginary friendship grew stronger. But now Zach’s in middle school, and things are getting awkward. His best friend ditched him for a cooler crowd.

Coke and Pepsi McDonald didn’t want to jump off a cliff. They didn't want to get hit by poisoned darts from blowguns either. And they certainly don't want to get locked in their burning school, thrown into a pit at the top of a sand dune, or drowned in a vat of liquefied Spam. But what are you supposed to do when you’re being chased across the country by your insane health teacher and two guys in bowler hats who are trying to kill you? One thing's for sure, it'll be a snap for Coke and Pep to write their essays on "How I Spent My Summer Vacation."

Story
Dexter Foreman is twelve going on eighty. He has lived at The Pines retirement village with his grandmother since he was six years old, and as a result he gets along better with senior citizens than kids his own age. He's homeschooled by the residents up until the day the county’s truancy officer shows up and announces that Dex has to go to a “real” school, to the local middle school. At school, Dex sticks out like a sore thumb. He dresses like a grandpa (and can be just as cranky). His taste in movies and music is decades out of date.

Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Nigel rides above and beyond in this great sequel
This is the sequel to my favorite laugh-out-loud adventurous page-turner (aka "humorous YA fantasy,"):*** The Dragon Squisher.*** It's finally here and… yes, it’s everything I was waiting for. The new book, The Crudge Whacker is just as fun and funny as the first book, and I particularly liked how the emotional stakes were higher in this one. In addition to the above-mentioned laughter, I was on the edge of my seat (bed, really) during the final chapters to see how Nigel would get out of this latest scrape. The narration, with a light and enjoyable british accent, adds a lot as well.
I can’t wait for book three. PS I keep typing crudge wacker instead of crudge whacker; I guess there must be some crudge in the spelling side of my brain.

narration was better before
I really liked the story but the narrator was nowhere as good as the one in the previous book. It sounded very tinny and overall not very good.

A Fantastic Sequel
I enjoyed The Crudge Whacker's fast paced story line and strong characters. Nigel's adventures were imaginative and taught us about each character's moral compass. Once again, with this sequel, Mr. McCormick incorporates the theme of acceptance of others within an exciting plot.

Nigel's back!!
Another fun adventure! I wasn't sure at first since our boy gets separated from his friends and is left alone to his own devices but Nigel on his own was entertaining. What would you do with the power of time and space in your hands? Read to find out! I look forward to the next chapter in the Nigel Chronicles.

Nigel the Dragon Crusher!
Scott McCormick's The Crudge Whacker is a delightful follow-up to The Dragon Squisher, offering more of the hilarious and heartwarming adventures we loved in the first book. Nigel, the most-hated person in Amerigorn, returns with his signature brand of chaos and humor.
From borrowing entire houses to facing off against mythical creatures and even traveling through time, Nigel's antics never fail to entertain. The author's witty writing style and imaginative world-building make this a fun and engaging read for both young and old.
One of my favorite scenes in the book is Nigel's encounter with Drill Sergeant Smythe. It's a classic example of Nigel's absurd humor and his ability to get himself into trouble.
However, I do have some constructive criticism. The pacing felt a bit uneven, with the first half of the book seeming slower than the action-packed second half. I would have preferred either a more balanced pace or a longer novel to fully explore the world and characters.
Despite this minor issue, The Crudge Whacker is a fantastic addition to the series. I'm eagerly anticipating more adventures with Nigel and his quirky companions.
Overall, I give The Crudge Whacker 4 stars. It's a fun and entertaining read with a likable protagonist and a lot of heart. I highly recommend it to fans of fantasy and adventure. I'm eagerly anticipating more adventures with Nigel and his quirky companions.
