Publisher's summary

“Tense, twisty, fraught with emotion and packed with secrets, The Couple at Number 9 is Claire’s best thriller yet.”—Gilly MacMillan, bestselling author of What She Knew

The internationally bestselling author of Do Not Disturb and Just Like the Other Girls delivers a heart-pounding psychological thriller about a couple who inherit what seems to be their dream home, until they make a horrifying discovery—and the danger begins.

The Victims . . .

When pregnant Saffron Cutler moves into 9 Skelton Place with boyfriend Tom and sets about renovations, the last thing she expects is builders uncovering human remains. The remains of two bodies, in fact.

The Investigation . . .

Forensics indicate the bodies have been buried at least thirty years. Saffy has nothing to worry about—until the police launch a murder inquiry and ask to speak to the cottage’s former owner. Her grandmother, Rose.

The Witness . . .

Rose is in a nursing home and Alzheimer’s means her memory is increasingly confused. She can’t help the police, but its’ clear she remembers something.

The Killer . . .

As Rose’s fragmented memories resurface, and the police dig ever deeper, Saffy fears she and the cottage are being watched.

The Truth . . .

What happened thirty years ago? Why did no one miss the victims? What part did her grandmother play? And is Saffy now in danger?

Great book!

I loved this book. It had a great story line and kept me wanting more and more. It did not take me long to finish this book. It kept my interest the whole time.

Complicated Story

I think reading this would have been better than listening. The story seemed a little complicated and hard to follow at times. A lot of names and people in the book. I did not like the male voice in the Audible. His voice had a very strong accent.

The book was twisty and Rich and full of sympathetic and broken people. with villains and subplots. I really enjoyed the book from beginning to end

Interesting!

This was a good book It kept me interested even though they had to drag an issue in there but other than that it was a good book. Enjoy both narrators.

Enjoyable Slow Burn

I liked this one a lot! It definitely moves at a slow pace but it made it feel like you were figuring it out along with the characters. I guessed bits as I went along but still enjoyed seeing how it all unfolded. The narrators were both good. My only gripe is that Saffy is a highly annoying character, but the story made up for it.

Loved it!

This is one of the best stories and audio performance I’ve heard in quite awhile. It had me guessing until the end and there were no irritating affectations by the readers.

I enjoyed it.

The reviews are such a mixed bag on this I was hesitant to buy. I enjoyed the story. There were plots and subplots, but I think they were woven together well. I read probably six books a week or listen to. I should say, and some are terrible. It’s nice to get something that I’m not mad at (voices, characters, idiocy) that provides engaging entertainment.
