About this listen

Three-time Christy Award winner Davis Bunn collaborates with Janette Oke to evoke the tumult of first-century Judea in the wake of Christ’s crucifixion.

Although she prefers service in Pontius Pilate’s palace to a loveless marriage, Leah is betrothed to a Roman centurion. Before he can have Leah, however, he must go on a secret mission. But when a rabbi’s missing body sends Leah and Alban after the same answers, what they discover could change all they hold dear.

Loved loved loved it!

I have read this book before in paperback and enjoyed it so much that I wanted it in audio as well. I think the story is so much better than either of the authors has ever written on their own. I love the characters. I love the spiritual content. Even though the narrator doesn’t do much with voices, I still enjoyed her reading of the book.

The Effects of the Roman empire.

Loved it. I gained a new perspective on those present during the time of the crucifixion and the ascension of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Excellent story line

It took me a while to figure out where the story line was placed even though I know the Bible very well. Excellent job of story telling! I won’t spoil the story other than to say, it gave me a whole new look at the time after Jesus’ resurrection and before Pentecost. From a Gentile/ Roman POV. If it may seem a bit confusing at the beginning, keep on reading. The final result is worth the effort. I was in tears at the end. A very satisfying conclusion!

inspiring

I loved this book the it was a great mix of intrigued and suspense all folded in with a beautiful love story between two strangers that come together on their quest to find Jesus, and experience Christ's pure love. A great book for believers to read or for some one that is new to or questioning their faith.

A beautiful story!

The ending was somewhat predictable but the journey to the end was very satisfying. There were some inaccuracies of the bible but I still enjoyed it!
The narrator did an amazing job.

Narration done well

Part of the pleasure of this book is the plausible backstory to the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ Jesus.
The story is well written.
I loved that the reader read the story with feeling but nothing felt forced or false.
If she was giving different voices to different characters it was unobtrusive. But I think she just read the story aloud really well.
