About this listen

The Tournament Approaches!

The grand tournament is drawing near. A place where every major faction in the Settled Territories sends their greatest members to compete in various fields. As people from all over the world head to the Tournament Territory, others make moves in the shadows. Everyone has their own agenda, and everyone is looking to gain advantage and power.

For Ryun and Zach, the tournament is the place where they can test themselves against the best the Infinite Realm has to offer. To find their place in this new world.

New faces and new threats arise as everyone converges to the same territory, and the entire world is watching.

But the Infinite Realm is a cruel place, and sometimes, people forget that the beings that created it have their own agenda.

Only here for Ryun

Full disclosure I hate multiple pov stories. If this series started out that way or was indicated with book one that it would develop into such a story, I would not have purchased it. I skipped every chapter that was not from the perspective of Ryun or someone who is interacting with him at that point in the story. In total that cuts this down to about 18 hours. That is still a lot of story for 1 credit. Skipping chapters did not make me lose track of the overall story and I didn't feel like I was missing something by doing so.

Phil Throns somehow did better in this one.

I think out of all the audio books I've listened to. Ivan Kal is the most complete writer. he does good action, story, world, characters. and the little details. like when he made counters to powerful abilities. or how he doesn't write females in a way that "they just have emotions and are hysterical". he gives them complex thoughts and feelings just like the male characters have. most writers use females just for a look and then stereotype "hysterical emotions"
side characters are interesting and cool, for example I really like Zenker and The lord of Death.
there is always a good mix of male and female characters that you can like. imo he doesn't write as if it's his fantasy and a harem, but writes as if it's a realistic fantasy, as if it were to actually happen. many writers over do it with sex, or sexual things or even sexual preferences. but I believe Ivan Kal does a great job of not overly fantasizing those things in this book.
warning this book contains heterosexual relations :O oh no! and this book contains same sex relations and poly relations. none of it is overdone or detailed except once has some details but not graphic.

the stat sheets are now longer cause of the higher levels, so you gotta skip a few minutes, unless you want to hear them.

as much as people seemed to not like Zach and how book 2 was his side of the story and his development, book 3 adds more but it goes in a better direction. book 2 was great, although a bit slower than 1 and 3. this book focuses more on Ryun again but Zach still gets his parts and there are more side stories in here for background of newly introduced characters.
can't wait for book 4 to come out, hopefully this year!

And the story continues.

I loved the story. I started to physically read this one year ago, but the reviews scared me away. They were dead wrong, the flow of the story is great with enough mix and balance of the main character's point of view. I still have a feeling about Zach, but he is not hated anymore.

Kal is writing Goku and he should be writing Vegeta

I can only stomach a character being fawned over so many times. And that number is astronomically less then the amount of times “blinked” was used in this book. Buy a thesaurus dude.

Seriously, I liked this series because originally because it held two characters in opposition to each other and let us watch them grow. Tbh I don’t care enough about any of the multitude of other characters the author wasted my time on to continue this series into book 4.

Also, trim your stat screens dude. Like give them their own chapter so I can skip them easily. Jesus Christ

Honestly, i enjoyed the way the relationships turn

i wont spoil, but the relationships play out very satisfactory give it till ch.54 and you'll understand what i mean it took a second to adjust for me because the way things building up and the direction things were heading but, the way things play out between everyone is very "cool uncle" at least i think so

Great book

This is a great listen. The story is really complete, but leaves room for the next book. Can’t wait to listen to the next one.

This was excellent!!!

This 3rd book filled in so much and evolved so many characters I do not know where to start!!! Even though it's the third book but not completed, I a completely satisfied with the story arc. The characters change little by little and have major growth. I can not wait for the next one!!!!
