Publisher's summary

From the renowned author Jack London comes two classic adventure stories about primitivism, nature, and early 20th-century life. Seen through the eyes of two dogs, their stories are distinct yet share similarities, and they have cemented London as a literary genius and writer.

In this bundle, you’ll discover:

  • The Call of the Wild, telling the story of the St. Bernard-Scotch shepherd, Buck, as he’s kidnapped from his home in Santa Clara Valley. Forced to survive as a sled dog in the midst of the Klondike Gold Rush, Buck must learn to embrace his wild ancestry and rise above the other canines.
  • And White Fang, a mirror of Buck’s story about a wolf-dog hybrid and his tumultuous upbringing. Experiencing the countless dangers of both the wild and the human world, White Fang details his journey to domestication.

Including complex themes such as morality and redemption, Jack London’s classic works have stood the test of time and remain central examples of literary fiction, a must-hear for anyone interested in the brilliant works of the past.

Amazing everything but the voice

The mans voice is fine but it gets grating after 3 hours or so, but the stories are definitely worth a listen

Great Narration of a Great Classic

I was given this free review copy audio-book at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This review is for the audio copy of The Call of the Wild & White Fang - Jack London Combo by Jack London and narrated by J. D. Kelly. I read these stories in junior high and loved them way back then. It was cool to listen to them being told by a great narrator. He did an excellent job telling the stories such that I could see the characters in my mind. I highly recommend this version.

Jack London Classics, 2-for-1

First, the narrator. J. D. Kelly has an easy voice to get into, and I had no trouble keeping this book playing a 100% strait. There were no pronunciation issues that I noted in the books, all was as it should be, and a couple of beautifully crafted stories to boot.

The stories are the same as you might have loved reading in your own childhood. Now, you can share them with your own family, in all of their glory and love of the animal, read in a well tailored voice. Man's best friend becoming something more primal, something deeper than just a follower of man.

I requested a free review copy of this audiobook, with expectation of my honest review. Thank you for allowing me to listen to and review the book!

Great Deal on Two Classics

What a great deal for two well known classic books! If you like wild life survival and adventure stories then these two are perfect for you. There is plenty of struggle, drama and The to The tone is really geared towards middle school readers and up. The narrator did a job and was enjoyable to listen to.

Back to Back Classics

Listening to these two classics back to back was an experience in itself. Call of the Wild is set during the Klondike Gold Rush and tells the story of Buck, a dog who is stolen from his family and shipped off to be a sled dog. This harsh environment shapes him, allowing him to embrace his wild side. In White Fang, a wolf takes the opposite journey. At first starting out as feral, he finds an owner who can domesticate him.

Both of these stories has some real hard to listen to scenes, but it was all for the sake of the story. The plot was real and sound. Even though the main characters were dogs, the author had a way of writing to keep you hooked in. Easy to see why these are classics.

Narration was okay.

Not Just Books for Children !

I read all of the Jack London books as a teenager. In my mind, they were in the same category as Jules Vern and Mark Twain. However, as a happily retired adult, I just “read” them again, and was amazed at the clarity and enjoyment they presented. No wonder these stories have survived a hundred years! The reading by J. D. Kelly was also superb.

Towards the end when he was protecting Scott

I liked the very ending when he knew the puppies were crawling all over him, and I liked when he was little and when he became allegiance to Scott
