About this listen

America has taken Japan’s best shots, and now Uncle Sam’s ready to come out of his corner swingin’…

Whoever controls the Solomon Islands controls the vital sea lanes between the United States and Australia. In May, Japan snapped up Tulagi and narrowed their eyes at the big island just 19 miles away across the channel…

Guadalcanal, the largest island in the Solomons, is being occupied by the Imperial Japanese Navy. As a new airfield nears construction, the United States Navy and Marine Corps know they must act quickly or the entire course of the war could swing in Japan’s favor.

As a massive invasion force gathers, Art Turner and the decorated crew of USS Bull Shark are once again sent on a secret mission. This time, Turner and a select few will go ashore on Guadalcanal to make contact with a coast watcher and select the time and place for America’s first major Pacific Marine assault. The clock is ticking, and Turner, his Marine Raiders, and the Bull Shark herself must face aircraft carriers, marauding Japanese soldiers, and a deadly jungle before time runs out!

Crocodiles, tarantulas, and fire ants…Japanese rifles and bayonets…cannons thunder and depth charges roar in this nonstop WWII naval action thriller.

the constant action and then the splitting up of the crew was interesting I think I would have liked the captain to stay on board the ship but it worked out well I will read the next in your series thank you

Great writing and narration.
Recommend narration substitute “zero” for “oh” as in Zero Dark Thirty.
That is how I was trained in Infantry OCS in 1966.

Oh man, this is getting good. This series is really bringing the war to life. I love how the author keeps expanding the world and bringing in new elements to illustrate what our greatest generation went through. Great story, excellent narration... I highly recommend this novel.

Ooh-rah! Battlestations torpedo!

As the author indicates, this is meant to be entertaining not necessarily factual or even realistic. With that in mind I believe he still captures the essence of what it was like back then as well as a captivating story line and characters. Very enjoyable! Well done! Also, great performance from the narrator.

Very enjoyable

Full of excitement and rich in detail, this is another great tale. Sure, like some other Scott Cook novels there are elements of the story that are unlikely or stretch credulity, and sometimes there is a little too much “rah-rah, they sure are great!” But this only keeps the story from being 5 stars. It doesn’t spoil the fun of the story, which is great.

Another excellent USS Mudshark submarine adventure
