About this listen

Raised in a Chicago convent, Sara Franks is eventually kicked out when a new Mother Superior takes charge. Now on her own, she finds work at a publication house and comes across an intriguing ad from a rancher in Oregon looking for a wife. Soon, Benny Slim and Sara are exchanging letters and after some time, she decides to move out west. Yet it’s a huge step to marry in faith without ever having met the man in person or knowing the life of a rancher’s wife.

Maddie Banks and her son Baxter live with her parents in Boston. But after six long years, she finally gets the news she’s been anxiously waiting for: her husband, who mysteriously disappeared years ago, has finally been located somewhere out west. Maddie packs at once, hoping to put an end to the mystery and with any luck, reuniting with her husband.

Riding in the same wagon, Sara and Maddie become fast friends during the trip as they share their stories and the vastly different journeys they’re on. But are they ready for what they’ll each uncover in Oregon? For surprises await them both, and faith calls in different ways to all…

Odd, but good

The story was good for a short story. It was very odd tho. If I had been either woman in this book, I’d have been pretty angry over the situation. Instead they took it and swallowed hook, line and sinker. That to me was not realistic, it was more like some man’s fantasy. 🙃. It was great for a short read, but don’t expect earth shattering emotions.
