Publisher's summary

Hardly have Ahren and his fellow adventurers returned to Deepstone following his Naming as Thirteenth Paladin when troubling news forces them into action again. They learn through the Ancients that one of their kind, the Paladin Bergen Olgitram, along with his band of mercenaries, the Blue Cohorts, are being besieged within the Brazen City by the headstrong Sun Emperor. Not only do Ahren and his companions need to get to the Sunplains in double-quick time and protect the Brazen City with its invaluable forges, but they also have to persuade the city triumvirate that a peaceful resolution to the conflict is paramount. And if that's not challenging enough, the Sun Emperor is determined to have the renegade captain and his mercenaries put to death. But Jorath needs every one of the 13 Paladins in its war against HIM, WHO FORCES. Even if one them is frustratingly stubborn.

The saga of the 13th Paladin continues. Join him and his friends on their adventures in the Sunplains and enjoy meeting his old friends in Deepstone again.

Wonderful story

This is one of the best authors and stories i have read in a very long time. I can count on 1 hand the really fantastic writers for the genre, and this author is one of them. The story is fresh, original, captivating and hard to put down. I will be purchasing them all as they come out, without a doubt. I hope to read more of his works for years to come.

A great continuation to the story

Each story is simple and yet conveys the points it teaches well. It is always a pleasure to listen to these books.

Quite good but...

Firstly let me be clear. This book/series really is quite good. It’s engaging and entertaining. There are a few minor instances with supporting characters that irritated me when listening but the main criticism I have is the MC.
He is constantly blubbering, brooding or complaining. There are several times that he shines thru and you think, “oh yeah!! That’s what I’m talking about!” But most of the time he is a naive, scared little whelp. I saw a bit of improvement but hopefully in the next book he has grown a bit more of a spine.
Even through that I found this series very enjoyable. It is well written and very entertaining.

Growing a new Weapon

The book show the great care the author takes in developing his characters. How theirs faults and advantages are developed.. So that they truly become what they are supposed to be hero's.

Good grief 😓

Okay. Straight men write the WORST romances EVER!!!! The hero which is a straight out crybaby whimp, “I want save the whole wide world! Even everyone that hates me. Blah blah blah “ That’s bad enough but the crybaby and the mean assed slave girl!!!!! Really? Good grief! I kept waiting for him to man up and I also waited for them to introduce a new female character that wasn’t a damned looser slave, but no! Let’s have the stupid mean used up bitter slave as the love interest. Gross! She is TOTALLY unlikable in EVERY way there is to dislike a character.

Advice. Stick with the fighting. You do those well.😠

Just beat on the main character

They make Ahren into nothing but a punching bag,
Yes let’s just have a character whos main character trait is slapping the main character in the face for the sake of “training” and make her the object of his affection. Maybe the author doesn’t understand simple human relationships but that isn’t how it works.
