Publisher's summary

How can you catch what you can't see?

Blind at birth, Alice Bergman's sight has been restored - but her childhood struggles and the assault she endured have never been forgotten. For the last 10 years, she's been secretly receiving letters from her attacker - letters written in Braille.

Now a homicide detective, Alice is assigned a murder case. The victim? A blind girl. The scene is preternaturally clean, far more than can be explained in any rational way. Alice is able to relive the girl's last moments - but she can't see the girl's killer.

That doesn't matter, though. Alice knows the killer is the same person who attacked her as a teen.

When another girl is murdered, Alice herself becomes a suspect due to grisly evidence at the murder scene. When the stress of the case and the trauma of her past combine to bring on the same blindness she faced as a child, Alice must struggle in the dark to catch the killer and regain her sight before the Braille Killer strikes again - this time, much closer to home.

A dark and gritty beginning to a new and thrilling series. Listen to the first Alice Bergman novel today!

Unique, expertly written and captivating thriller

Alice, born blind but with regained sight, is a detective searching for a provocative serial killer that taunts her with poetic notes. She has her own past traumas haunting her, and tries to hide them from her boyfriend and partner to avoid being seen as a victim. With the stress of the case getting to her, she loses her sight and, with some interesting secrets of her own, must find the killer before more people die.

Wow! I was surprised how much i enjoyed this book! I was expecting a normal 'whodunnit' but the way the story was written was so much more. The scenes were so brilliantly described, almost as of the blind could see them (excuse the pun)! The characters were developed and created expertly throughout the story and i loved every moment of getting to know them. The plot was built up masterfully, unraveling at the perfect pace to progress the story and keep the listener entertained and intrigued throughout. There were twists embedded within the story making it unpredictable and fascinating. I loved the subtle inuendos to Alice in wonderland, the author has some real skill building this into a complex, deep and captivating story. It was a unique and brilliant thriller i would absolutely listen to again!

TJ narrated very well. She was the perfect fit for the story and Alice. She had great intonation and energy and i thoroughly enjoyed her performance.

I highly recommend this engrossing story. It was absolutely absorbing and i could not stop listening. It will keep you on your toes and without a doubt be a worthwhile listen. You will not regret hearing this story, do not regret not hearing it!

PS if i could, i would have given this story more than 5 stars :)

New Twist In A Detective Story

This book was complex in that the main character, Alice, who is now a detective, had been born blind, got her sight back, and then started to loose her sight again while searching for the murderer of blind girls. Daniel Kuhnley has woven a very intricate and convoluted plot and on the whole I was entertained by the story. My only complaint is that there were times where I felt the narrative was a little bit pontifical on the subject of religion. TJ Spehar's narration is good. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.

Intriguing

I really enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more of this series and would recommend it to others who like good paranormal mysteries!! The only thing I didn't like as much as the story was the narrator, she was ok but I've heard better. 😊 I received this audiobook free for an honest review.

Loved it!

This book took me by surprise! I am visually impaired, and the author did a great job portraying the life of not having vision. The twists in this book were very well done. Can’t wait for the next book!

Alice down the proverbial rabbit hole

I start listening and keep wanting to listen until the end. Now that I reached the end I can't wait to start the next book in the series. It starts off like normal life, though Alice is no normal young woman in her twenties with the heavy weight of trying to stop a sadistic killer and rapist on her plate. Yet soon we go down the rabbit hole with her into the terrifying unknown and the mysterious. I like Alice Bergman and her Seth. As the listener we get to discover just who Alice might be right along with Alice herself.
Alice's relatability and likeability have everything to do with the narration of TJ Spehar, which smoothly and entirely convincingly carries you down that hole along with Alice. Her narration works synergisitically with the novelist to grip you and carry you all the way through and leaves you wishing for more.
Loved it!

I was Very Disappointed in this Book

I read the blub and the reviews and was looking forward to a in depth Murder investigation dealing with blind people. I am Sooo Disappointed with what the book Actually was. Instead I got a book about a narcissitic Detective who just rambles on and does not even follow police procedures correctly. She does Not even let her partner who happens to be her lover in on what has been happening for 10 years
