Publisher's summary

BOOK 1 OF THE LIVING A MEANINGFUL LIFE SERIES.

For adults and teens of all ages and beliefs! Living A Meaningful Life is one of the largest family saga series ever written, and most certainly the largest written in recent history. The series is expected to eventually reach 100 installments. Thus, the storyline arc of the series is huge, and it includes several generations. A listener cannot expect to listen to the first couple of books and understand what the series is about.

The Living A Meaningful Life series is for listeners who want to become fully immersed in a life-changing adventure with this family. Very quickly, you will feel as if you are a part of this family, and that bond will only grow.

Each installment builds upon the previous installments, and the later installments frequently refer back to things that were within the earlier installments. Portions of the earlier installments are on the juvenile side at points, and that is because the earlier installments feature the main characters as children. However, as those characters age, the storylines become much more sophisticated and complex.

The basic initial storyline premise focuses on a lonely boy who spends most of his childhood sitting alone on a park bench. However, after performing a few random acts of kindness, his life begins to head in a direction that he could have never imagined in his wildest dreams.

That unlikely lonely boy would end up building a giant family dynasty that changes the lives of everyone in his entire community, and beyond. He shows us that even the most common and disadvantaged among us can take certain actions in life that result in dramatic life-changing results.

The series remains neutral in regard to politics and religion.

This is a series for teens and adults of all different beliefs.

Teens will especially appreciate the first few installments, while the interest for adults will only escalate as the series progresses.

Life-defining, life-changing, life-long lessons

The bench, we all know one. That bench at the park, the one perfectly placed on our favorite trail, the one that may have seen better days but still provides a great spot to rest. These benches offer a rest for our souls, allow us a place to sit and overlook life as the years carry on, and have likely seen their fair share of heartbreak and first love. Author Brian Hunter’s novel, “The Bench,” begins by refamiliarizing us with a bench like this. A bench that carried an old Mrs. Carlisle, and then a lonely young man.

Told out of order, but in a way that makes sense, Hunter weaves together four extraordinary tales. First familiarizing readers with the bench. Then, educating us all on the grumpy neighbor, Mr. Wilkens. We glimpse some of our young narrator’s school experience in the chapter regarding the silent bully, and lastly, we are shown a love story for the ages. Each of these four stories stands alone, and yet together creates an outstanding foundation for our narrator’s life.

“The Bench” is Brian Hunter’s first in the Living A Meaningful Life Series. Immediately, readers can relate all too well to the stories he tells. Despite its fictional nature, “The Bench” reads like an autobiography. Written to feel like you are being told a story by your new lifelong friend, Hunter’s style of writing instantly draws readers in. Moving, introspective, and thoughtful, this read invokes a powerful sense of emotion as the stories unwind. With attachment to our narrator, a sense of wonderment for those he encounters, and a feeling of happiness and contentment through the final pages, readers are shown a world we’d be happy to remain within as the series continues to unwind.

Author Brian Hunter uses the power of storytelling to immerse us in a coming-of-age saga that will have us coming back for more. Housing crucial life-defining events, life-changing individuals, and life-long lessons, “The Bench” is a welcome embrace that slows us down, in our ever-moving world, and reminds us of the beauty of life.
