About this listen

When everything she’s ever known is a lie, one young woman must make a choice that could change the course of history.

Glade Io is torn between two worlds. She’s a trained killing machine - selected by the ruthless Authority to be a Datapoint, a tech-enabled agent of the state who eliminates threats to the human colonies throughout the solar system in the Culling. But her time among rogue colonists called the Ferrymen has convinced her that The Authority has far more sinister plans in store, and all the justifications they fed to her are lies. Vowing to help the rebels fight The Authority from the inside, Glade must sabotage a captured Ferryman ship that The Authority is planning to use to attack the Ferrymen stronghold.

Though Glade is drawn to the brave leader of the Ferrymen, Kupier, she has older loyalties as well. Her friend and mentor Dahn Enceladus is charismatic and ambitious, but although Glade cares for him, she can no longer trust him. Her younger sisters are also in danger of facing Datapoint testing, and now she’s being forced into an upgrade she cannot refuse. But help is about to arrive in an unlikely form: a ghost from her distant past.

When what's easy and what's right are worlds apart

This book picks up soon after book one, you should probably read book one first, you don't have to, but this book will make more sense if you do.

I couldn't help but feel for Glade, she's been put in a situation that seems impossible. Questioning everything that she's been told there's no easy way out, and that's what makes this book so good. Glade has to overcome her feelings and the people trying to control her.

There's lots going on in this book and as it progresses so many things start to make sense while others show that the weren't what they first seemed. Plenty of twists here and lots of action.

I'm really enjoying this world, it's detailed and the people seem so real, I cant wait to find out what happens in the next book.

The narration is excellent, the character voices are brilliant and at times had me forgetting that I was listening to only one person. The delivery was spot on!

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Loving this series!

Ramona Finn is a new author to me. I read The Culling 1st and was excited to read The Authority! I would say that, so far, each book stands on it's own, but, don't do it! Read both! The development of each character is at a highly experienced level. Their relationships are believable, the thoughts and behaviors/reactions are spot on. I am looking forward to reading the next in the series, The Ferrymen.
I keep saying 'read', but, in reality, I listened on audiobook. Stacey Blemboski does a fantastic job with the narration. I believed her when the characters were upset, laughing, sad, concerned. Each feeling and thought was well played. I also found that her narration of the story was easy and flowed well through the cadence and timber of her voice.
I highly recommend this series!

Exciting adventure, impossible choices

At each turn you knew something was going to go wrong, but you weren't sure what. The story is full of relationships fraught with the challenge of restricted abilities to feel emotions, big brother watching and ever-human feelings of inadequacy and egotism compounded by underground political movements shrouded in secrecy and constant challenges of figuring out who to trust, who's the good guys, who's the bad or is everyone a bit of both..for much of the story you'll be guessing and there's always a sense of dread at what lies ahead has you on the edge of your seat.
The story is believable and keeps you thinking 'I can see this being our future'. There's plenty of intriguing tech, politics of the future and characters that you want to reach into the book and strangle!
I really enjoyed reading this - think I'll be buying others in the series
I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review - if you like dystopian sci-fi future, I think you'll be very happy with this one

The Authority Strikes Back

The story is getting more thrilling and closer to a climax. Not much of a fan of the love triangle with Dom, but I do feel sorry for him. The part of the mother was irritating, but it added many needed details. Really liked the super tech, 'til it went rouge. The next book will bring the final battle of the ferrymen against the authority, get wait!

Loving the series

Love all the twists and turns in this series. Second books are usually not my fave and I usually feel like they are just filled with fluff but this one kept me dying to know what was going to happen next! Love it!

OMG!!!!!

I freakin love this series! So much happened in this book I wouldn’t even know how to comment on it all. So I’ll just say this, this is an amazing serious you need to have in your life. Glade kicks ass and takes names. Dahn plays an important role in this book and Haven is as creepy as ever. I can’t wait for the next book.

Book 2 did not disappoint.

Book 2 was another great continuation of this story. Love the character development and the path that Glade is on. She is really growing further into a strong female character. I am curious the path of her "love" interests will take. There was a lot of conflict in this story which I appreciated. There was also a twist as well that I didn't exactly see coming. I knew I was going to be in for some kind of surprise but I didn't expect what happened...vague I know.

Again, I really thought the narrator did a stellar job!

good concept, too much teen romance

Great concept for a book, but it focused too heavily on the romantic plots. I would have liked to see more world building.

So many twists

I loved getting more into Glade's world. I've enjoyed following her and I'm really enjoying finding more about her.I completely agree with Dahn that she's some kind of unsolvable puzzle even with being in her mind. Glade doesn't react at all like I'd expect accept when it comes to how she feels about Kupier. I love following her story and seeing how this is all going to pan out even with all the twists thrown in. Stacey's voice just helps the story become more alive in my mind and helps make the ride much more enjoyable.

Very Good Book!

I enjoyed the story line of this book. I have not listened to Book 1 yet, but was still able to follow Book 2. The narrator does a great job with all the different characters in this book. I would recommend this book to anyone of all ages. I am looking forward to listening to the other books in this series.
