Afton Morrison, 26, is a small-town children’s librarian by day, on a murderous mission to make the world a better place by night. From the hunt for a violent sexual predator to the last stand against her tormentor, The Afton Morrison Series delves into a world of moral ambiguity and is told in four thrilling parts:

  • Go Home, Afton
  • See You Soon, Afton
  • Nice Try, Afton
  • Time’s Up, Afton

Packed with suspense, grit, and action, The Afton Morrison Series delivers audiences an unlikely heroine in the form of a disturbed vigilante murderess.

This edition also features a bonus short story, "A Book with No Pictures", the first published title from author Brent Jones to have featured Afton Morrison as a character.

Time’s Up, Afton:
Afton contends with unwanted notoriety as she plots to kill vicious drug dealers and prepares for the last stand against her tormentor.

"A Book with No Pictures":

An action-packed story

Homicidal librarian? Small town? Strong female lead? Yes, please! My favorite part of this series is internal struggle Afton has with wanting to kill. Trying not to spoil anything but once she embraces who she is, things get very interesting. Let’s just say she turns on the badass and it’s so cool to see. I also love the side characters. Jones did a fantastic job and letting us as an audience fall in love with them too. Kind makes me want a spin of series... 10/10 would recommend for those of use who love a bit of dark humor, strong female leads, and an action-packed story.

P.S. The voice actor for this series was so PERFECT!

Fun, fast-paced series

It took me a little bit to warm up to this series. I had a few issues with the writing at first but as I continued to listen I found I wanted to continue to see where it was going. The series moved along quite quickly and I found I really got into it. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Great series

A wonderful story with dark secrets, murders and a lot of twists and turns. The characters were well written, and the narration kept me on the edge of the seat. I am glad I got the whole series in one boxset, so I didn't have to wait for the continuation.
The narrator was very good, keeping a great pace and adding to dark and suspenseful atmosphere.

Highly recommended.

not a bad story

This was my first Brent Jones story but not my last. Overall I enjoyed this book but the story was confusing at times. I found myself rewinding and having to relisten to sections to understand what was going on. I like facade Afton put out as an unsuspecting librarian with killer tendencies. The twin twist was a bit far fetched but worked for the story. I received this book for free for an honest review.

Inside the Mind

Fascinating experience of being inside the mind of a tormented young woman looking for justice and vindication as she bumbles through life, work and relationships with a goal to shutting down some abusive criminals - forever. Uniquely stirring and unsettling in how the book so consistently captures the thoughts and perspectives of this young woman as she struggles with life.

I'm still thinking of Afton days later

I read the first book in the series which I bought on Kindle. The opportunity came to listen to the Audible books for an honest review I took it.

I really loved the first book, the author would telegraph various characters from books and TV shows and then bravely bring them up in the storyline. I love the authenticity of that as well as the added Easter eggs within the mystery.

Besides the BAU at the FBI who really knows what goes into the making of a serial killer or their thought process?
Brent Jones did a great job of giving us both. This is NOT a cozy mystery. It has strong language and violence that is proportional to the subject matter.

I overall was kept guessing (the point of any mystery) and becoming invested in many of the characters as their stories developed.
As an Audiobook, the narration and performance was very good. There was one voice/character that I really cringed when I heard the voice but that was keeping in line with that character.

After all 4 books I am thinking of Afton Morrison days later and still processing this series. That doesn't happen often. When it does, the author did a great job.

Stellar box set !

What a great plot! The character development offered the reader the inside thoughts and emotions of everyone in this book. I certainly enjoyed the female lead in this series, she is tough as kicking butt !! I enjoyed the mystery and intrigue in this book. It kept the reader completely baffled until the very end.
My new favorite author !

A lot of build up... maybe too much.

I'll start off by saying I enjoyed the series. I felt the writing and storylines were great and the narrator was incredible. Maybe I had different expectations based on the summary, but there was a ton of build up. I believe Afton describes it in the book as "blue balls". As a reader, I was feeling like "just kill him already". 4 books is a long of time having the same bad guy. The twists and turns kept me interested for the most part, but I felt like we could've moved on from that story line in book 1 maybe book 2 at the most, and then got to Afton seeking the scum of the Earth to satisfy her urges.

Thankfully, the entire series is included....

It is a very good thing that the entire series is included in one production because I don't think readers could handle waiting months to move from book to book. Brent Jones knows how to write a cliffhanger that left me listening for just one more reveal until I had the book finished in two days. Afton Morrison is a complex character - both kick-ass strong and vulnerable at the same time. Her relationships with her brother and her friends were equally complex. She cared deeply for the important people in her life but came across as sarcastic and unfeeling in her dealings with them. On one hand, Afton was this caring librarian that gave ice cream to a lonely boy, acted as mentor for a lonely teenager, and offered comfort to an assault victim. On the other hand, she was planning (and looking forward to committing) multiple murders but justifying them by only planning to kill BAD people.

Jones impressively uses foreshadowing to not only draw the reader ever deeper into the story, but he drops these clues that leave the reader thinking: what just happened? I never could have guessed all the twists and turns this book would take, but I certainly enjoyed Afton's wild and crazy journey to an end to her quest. However, it might only be an end for now because Jones definitely left the door open for future adventures for Afton.

The narrator, Kristin James, did an excellent job helping with the creepiness factor of The Afton Morrison Series. She fantastically portrays the various emotions of all the characters, and she really knows how to make the psychopaths sound all the crazier. Between Brent Jones prose and Kristin James narration, this book could join the ranks of Hitchcock Presents and The Twilight Zone. I highly recommend this audiobook and would definitely listen to another book with the author or the narrator.

Afton, Afton and more Afton!

I received a copy of this audiobook at my request in exchange for this honest review.

No spoilers here, just to say that this is FANTASTIC! Just amazing. "Packed with suspense, grit, and action," Nothing could be more true, and i loved EVERY single second with Kristin James, Wyatt Baker and Brent Jones. Brent Jones has also written these books, and when he narrates it brings a bit of FLAIR. I am happy that all the books are here, and there is something about that. 20 hrs and 39 mins feels short. How strange is that? That is saying something about how good this collection really is. I recommend this, and i would love you to get this.
