Publisher's summary

The Adventures of Tom Bombadil is a collection of poetry written by J. R. R. Tolkien and was first published in 1962. The audio is read by Sir Derek Jacobi and is a collection of 16 poems that contain an assortment of bestiary verse and fairy tale rhyme. It is a stunning recording that captures all the characters in their own charming and mysterious ways. Throughout Jacobi's performance we will encounter all of these, including the Oliphaunt, a Princess, the man in the moon and even a giant turtle-fish called Fastitocalon.

under rated excellence.

Tom Bombadil and his tales excites the nature sprite inside of me. Ents are the guardian of the forest buy Tom is the Shepard of his woods. He has the possibility of countless stories. A happy and joyful hero type character. He sings to the trees, calls them by name and is host to lost travelers. I crave more from the Bombadils. What does the wife of Tom bring to the magical forest. Truly enchanting book.

No volume control

Great collection of poems, but poor sound design. One minute I can't hear what's being said, the next it's screaming in my ears.

Enjoyable Poetry

Poetry of the shire, about surrounding lands and people. Very recognizable to those who have read the lord of the rings.

Wonderful stories

Lovely voice, great writing of course. A calming experience to allow one’s mind to travel to imaginary and meaningful places.

A collection of poems

Not quite what I was hoping for. I loved Tom in the main storyline. This was entertaining.

Poems

A nice collection of poems, though Tom still baffles me as a character. I view his character as more of a whimsical force of nature even before I read this, and now even more so. The narrator was great, some of those lines would have undoubtedly been pretty tricky, but he reads them well.
