About this listen

Racer McKay is a broody bastard.

From the moment I met him, he's been rude, irritable, and unbearable. And worse? He's broke.

A contractor working to remodel my parents pool house for extra cash, he stomps around in those clunky construction boots with his tool belt wrapped around his narrow waist, and a chip on his shoulder.

Racer McKay is also infuriatingly...sexy as hell. I want to take that pencil tucked behind his ear, and draw lazy lines slowly up and down his body all the while wanting to strangle him at the same time. We try to stay out of each other's way...that is, until I have no other option but to ask for his help. But what I don't realize is he needs me just as much as I need him. I have money he's desperate for, and he holds the key to making my dreams come true.

Our pranks turn from sarcastic banter, to sexual tension and lust-filled glances. Bickering matches quickly morph into slow burn moments. We're hot, we're cold. We push and pull. I need him, I don't want him.

We're on the verge of combusting with an agreement dangling dangerously between us. Neither one of us can afford to lose one another and yet, we're finding it quite hard to decipher the line that rests between love and hate.

Contains mature themes.

Terrible voice for lead male

The narrator makes the voice for Racer sound like a squeeky nerd. It is not what you would think a big, sexy male would sound like.

Templeton the rat

Listen to this book, go for it. If you’re okay with the main character sounding like templeton from Charlottes Web. 😳

wondrous story

Loved the story, Georgie, and Racer, but I almost couldn't finish it with the horrible male narration. He made this handsome, ripped, all male Racer sound like a prepubesent twelve year old on helium. Absolutely story killing!

Not my cup of tea

I can usually get past bad narration but not in this book. If the narrarator had used the same voice for the storytelling as well as the male lead this would have been a 5 star review.

Tangled twosome

The narrator was kind of irritating. He got on my nerves especially the male voices. I like Sebastian York.

Male narrator ruined it

The male narrator absolutely ruined this book. I finally had to DNF it because it was making Racer sound creepy. I truly don’t understand why he made this choice for the voice. When he was narrating in her dialogue, he sounded normal, but when he would speak to other people, he sounded like a 1930s gangster aka “you dirty rat.” The female narrator was good. I usually love Meghan Quinn books, so I tried to just read this book on KU. I just couldn’t get his voice out of my head so I have just thrown in the towel. If you are invested in the series, just read the book.

I loved the genuine love story. It was fun and quippy.

The only thing I did not enjoy was the ridiculous nerdy voice that was given to racer. His own voice was already deep and seductive. We didn’t need the nerdy hype, pitched voice for when he spoke instead of narrating maybe in the future don’t do the nerdy, high-pitched, ridiculous voice But the rest of the book was incredible and I loved it

Narrator’s voice

I like the storyline but the one narrator’s voice drives me nuts. I know that sounds wrong but oh well. I almost stopped the book a few mins in because it was so annoying, but I really wanted to hear the storylines so I powered through his voice.

Cute Story - Racer’s Voice - not so much

It’s a cute, but predictable story. I only gave 3 stars for performance because Racers voice sounds kinda like one of the characters from Beavis and Butthead.

Why did he change his voice

The storyline was great but why did the male narrator change his voice for the main character. The nasal high voice was a bit irritating. Other than that, I really enjoyed it.
