About this listen

Rule one: Don't look at the demon.

When I arrived at my uncle's house, I expected my relatives to be like me - outcast sorcerers who don't practice magic. I was right about the sorcery, but wrong about everything else.

Rule two: Don't listen to the demon.

My uncle chose a far deadlier power. He calls creatures of darkness into our world, binds them into service contracts, and sells them to the highest bidder. And I'm supposed to act like I don't know how illegal and dangerous it is.

Rule three: Don't talk to the demon.

All I had to do was keep my nose out of it. Pretend I didn't find the summoning circle in the basement. Pretend I didn't notice the shadowy being trapped inside it. Pretend I didn't break the rules. But I did, and now it's too late.

Make sure to check out the companion series, The Guild Codex: Spellbound, available now, and The Guild Codex: Warped, coauthored by Rob Jacobsen.

I have enjoyed all books I have read so far my Annette. And I think Chris Dukehart is one of the top three narrators I have heard in Audible. Thank you both for the magic you bring to my life!

I love Annette Marie!

I listened to the first four books of the “Guild Codex: Spellbound” series by A.M. loving everything about it and I actually read the two book of Demonized before listening. Cris Dukehart does an amazing job at giving life to the characters, making it just as exciting listening to it as it was reading!!

Loved this as much as the Spellbound series!!

This is an awesome start to a new series! Robin's parents die and she has to live with her uncle, but he doesn't seem so honest. She finds out he has a demon trapped in the library. He tells her never to go in the library again! Well, you know she did! That's when things go crazy! Exciting, suspenseful, thrilling, and funny! Can't wait for the next book!
Narration was terrific!

Wow, I want a hot demon to protect me!

I have never read or heard anything like this storyline, Yes it's about demons and magic but the story like the relationship between the characters are 100% original. (To me.) Outside of the opening line of exposition I found this book pretty enjoyable. Beware may be adorable at times

Pretty good

I honestly really enjoyed this story. The plot-line was pretty interesting, and the characters are interesting. It’s a relatively quick fun read.
I am hoping there is more character development in the following books too.

Enjoyed the story

There might be some spoilers mentioned; don't read if you are not interested in having the series spoiled.

I was hesitant to read this series due to some of the reviews regarding the female character. I'm very wary of characters who make a situation worse because of naiveté or just plain stupidity. But after giving this entire Demonized series a chance, I am glad I did push past that review.

Book 1 sparked my curiosity. I found myself rooting for Zylas while the ignorant female pushed past her own barriers. I won't lie; the beginning had me waiving due to the speed at which the story flows and how long it took to meet Zylas. But the moment he allowed her to touch him, I found myself tangled in this new world, holding my breath and smiling. For me, that is when the magic began.

Book 2 and 3 started by irritating me beyond belief. Not because of the writing or my favorite demon Zylas, but because of the irritatingly ignorant female lead, Robin. Hear me out for a moment. Her constant battle in her mind had me frustrated beyond belief. I found myself just telling Zylas to kill her and find someone new that would look past his demon ways. But by the time I got halfway through Book 3, I realized the battle was needed. I started to relate to her struggle between who she thought she was and who she wanted to be. The termoil was needed to build that character dependability for both Zylas and Robin.

Book 4 zipped up the series and handed the ending to me with a bow on it. It ended the way I was hoping it would and left me contemplating whether I would read the related series. My favorite moment is when Zylas finally breaks down and asks the questions we all wanted answered back in books 2 and 3.

The series summed up. Vague Spoiler alert.

I read the books long before listening to the audiobooks and loved the story! The female voice narrator took a bit to get used to with a little bit more of a nasally voice, but wasn't bad

Loved

Sometimes you can get lost in the description of clothes and cookies. A little over the top.

Character building of relationship between the demon and his capture.

4.5 stars — Somehow I just knew I was going to love Robin. A meek book nerd who perseveres? YES PLEASE! Honestly, the whole book was fascinating to me, and I loved seeing a different side of this universe. I also kind of love that our main heroines in both these series are fairly uninformed about the world, and without any inherent great power…it’s who they are inside that makes a difference.

Let’s talk about Cris Dukehart for a second. I could tell from the first sentence that I was listening to someone else and not Tori. It was the slightest change, barely noticeable, but it was all Robin. I don’t understand how she does that! She was awesome as always. It was so cool to hear the demon language from her. My only complaint is that occasionally I didn’t know it was Zylas speaking and not one of the other men (like Darius). Not often though.

Like I said above, Robin is my kind of girl. I felt for her with her grief, and the uncomfortable circumstances of her living with her Uncle trying to get her inheritance. I know not everyone will get it, but I TOTALLY felt her need to bolster herself to confront him…I was proud of the times she was able to put herself out there, because it’s so anathema to her. I adored her “bleeding heart”, and the way her uninformed view on demonica really showcased how awful contracts could be. She was just cute, and determined, and kind, and brave.

Zylas was FASCINATING to me. Because he was SOOOOO alien, and he really is a blood thirsty murderer. I loved that Ms. Marie didn’t tone that down, didn’t make him super different from other demons. He was still scary as *beep*. You could really tell that the little differences he started showing was because of the relationship he ended up developing with Robin. It was a one of a kind circumstance. And he’s not just all fuzzy rainbows because of her — it’s very subtle, with lots of room for growth. The two of them, and their hilarious bickering at times, made this book for me. I was just freaking delighted by the strange relationship they developed.

I can’t wait to see how this is going to change things in this universe — both in this series and in Spellbound. And can I just say that I’m loving Darius more and more? LOVED getting to see more of him, Girard, and Alistair — especially in action!!

Yeah. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel jumping into a different head, but I’m just as in love. I think Ms. Marie has made a fan for life.

Different but just as awesome!
