Story
Divorce is the intersection of everything we hold dear in life: love, sex, money, and children. When those are threatened, people get angry. Logical and reasoned decision-making spirals into power plays and finger-pointing and potentially open warfare. Without a clear head, divorce is a lose-lose for everyone except the lawyers. It doesn't have to be that way. Family law attorney Raiford Palmer has helped clients find a faster, more peaceful, less costly alternative to "World War III" divorce cases.

When a close friend had her husband leave, I made the commitment to speak with her for 90 straight days, telling her exactly what I wished someone had told me the moment my own wife walked out. Every morning, I'd send her an email with a story from my own "hellacious" experience, giving her something inspirational to focus on and an action step to get her from heartbroken back to thriving - as fast as possible. My goal was simple - to get her just a little bit stronger each and every day, and it worked. This book is those exact letters, compiled for you, with zero punches pulled.

Story
Children today live in an unpredictable, disruptive, and often violent world. Many of them live in two different homes with different sets of expectations. They face bullying at school and online. They hear news of school shootings, and racially or religiously motivated violence. They may have lost a friend or a loved one. As parents, the impulse to protect our children is strong, but that very protection can end up handicapping them for life. Rather than seek to save them from the hard things, parents must teach their kids how to cope with and rise above their problems.

We enter our romantic relationships with great love, hope, and excitement—we've found the 'one', so we plan and forge our futures together. But sometimes, for many different reasons, relationships come undone; they don't work out. Commonly, we view this as a personal failure, rather than an opportunity. And instead of honoring what we once meant to each other, we hoard bitterness and anger, stewing in shame and resentment. Sometimes even lashing out in destructive and hurtful ways, despite the fact that we’re good people at heart.

Only lists What to do BUT NOT HOW to do it
Let me sum up this entire book: “use common sense.”
The examples are horrible; the whole book is just a list of hundreds of common sense instructions. It tells you, “don’t speak disrespectfully about the other parent.” Ok I guess it’s not wrong. But it is far from helpful. One particularly bad example is what not to do: A 7 year old girl steals money from her father’s wallet, and the father asks why, and she says that her mother doesn’t have enough money for food. The father responds, “she’s a liar. Don’t listen to her.” The “advice” from the author is to not put the child in the middle of a parental conflict. Umm yes, technically true, but sooooo far from helpful. At the end of the book they have scripts on how to tell your kids you’re getting divorced. The author says repeatedly to “be specific but do not provide details.” That’s oxymoronic.

Audio is terrible. Content is fabulous
I would read the book rather than listening to the audio. Sounds like a computer reading.
