About this listen

Can two men from opposite sides of the tracks find love?

Colonel Liam Cobalt has it all. He is content being a successful colonel in the Army and a billionaire with enough money at his disposal to help others. It takes only one glimpse of Spencer Turner to change all that. When a headlong clash sets him back, he must rethink his strategy. Offering Spencer friendship instead of romance seems like a good idea even though he wants so much more.

Captain Spencer Turner grew up dirt poor. He has fought for everything he ever had, and now he's all about taking care of his younger brother. When Liam suggests "friends only", Spencer accepts because there's no way he can become involved with a rich man. Been there, done that. Besides, he's got too much going on for anything else.

When a sinister enemy is hellbent on extortion, Spencer finds himself facing a no-win situation. Will Liam come to the rescue? And if he does, will Spencer accept his help? Two powerful men come together thinking they can keep it on a "friends only" level, but when the heat rises, is taking it slow the best course?

enjoyed it

📖 Story comment: good pace, likeable characters, interesting plot.

I listened to all 8 books in the Code of Honor series back to back and loved every one of them. My review covers the whole series in general because there is a story arc that is built on in each book and leads into the next series (Operation Justice Force) so it's all a good fit.

The series is well developed, each story is action packed, has good pace and likeable characters. I like my books a little longer, but overall I was happy with the series and will listen to it again.

I'm so completely invested in these characters but OMG! Liam has the patience of a saint ... talk about "Taking it Slow" - I wanted to shake some sense into Spencer (lol!)

🎧 Narrator comment: Troy Duran was a good choice of narrator for this series and he did a great job with the narration. Each character had his own voice and I had no problem distinguishing characters from each other and his rhythm, inflections and intonations all worked to bring the characters to life. My only negative comment would be: the secondary characters (ie: other team members) voices were often inconsistent across the series - listening to each book separately I didn't really notice, but when listened to back to back the inconsistency was noticeable.
