Publisher's summary

Earth arms marines with alien technology and builds its first battle fleet! Kyle Riggs is snatched by an alien spacecraft sometime after midnight. The ship is testing everyone it catches and murdering the weak. The good news is that Kyle keeps passing tests and staying alive. The bad news is the aliens who sent this ship are the nicest ones out there.

A novel of military science fiction by best-selling author B. V. Larson, Swarm is the story of Earth's annexation by an alien empire. Long considered a primitive people on a backwater planet, humanity finds itself in the middle of a war - and faced with extinction.

The great and powerful Kyle Riggs

I’m sure I’ll take an unhelpful reviewer hit for this, but Kyle Riggs is a hypocritical moron. Within the first few chapters I found myself hoping for the death of this “great” man. I continued to pray for his untimely demise in books, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. I’m assuming he never actually bites it in 10 or 11 but really don’t care at this point. I know this is an unpopular perspective and being buried in the 4000 other reviews this will probably never even be seen, but I hope this will bring me some closure regarding this tool.

Why do I dislike this galactic hero so? Where do I begin? It could be because after a very devastating event happens to his family, he is preoccupied with banging some stranger. Perhaps it could be how he has declared himself smarter than every other being on the planet. It could possibly be irritation derived his many non logical “great ideas”. How about a combo. He continually made stupid unilateral decisions effecting the human race followed by a complete about face on the “final” decision to do the exact opposite thing (but still stupid). His decisions were based on whatever fancy he had at that moment damned be consequences.

It didn’t take long to realize how big of a tool this guy was so I don’t know why I basically listened to the whole series. I really liked the concept of the technology and if the main character was really a “hero” the series would have been great.

I was suprised at how much I would luv this series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this to everyone. I purchased the print copies for my sons and the audio for me. I love this book. Since they do not have the other editions in print (except for the first two) I now have them all on kindle and audible and I hope this series keeps going for years yet. It is so down to earth...

What did you like best about this story?

I love the main charactor who is in every respect the 'everyman' who, rather than panicing or sinking to baser emotions, uses his common sense and basic logic to adapt and use what's available to him to overcome his circumstnce. BRILLIANT!!!

Which character – as performed by Mark Boyett – was your favorite?

I like the main charactor exspecially how he is portrayed by Boyett. He hits him right on the head. I like the way he portrays all of the chractors and how he makes the main charactor thoughtful and three diminsional.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The story kept moving and did not stagnate. I loved the creation of the marine and the base cam.

Any additional comments?

This entire series is well worth the listen. If you like military sci-fi then you will LOVE THE STAR FORCE SERIES!!!!

Listen without prejudices

Whitout any pause to ruin the action using the brain, Swarm remember me the old funny action movies from the 80's . Sometimes, when listening other books while going for a stroll, I finally came up thinking about things I should buy for dinner, or something I have to talk with my wife, or something I've forgotten to do at my job (geez!). Well, this doesn't happen while listening Swarm.

Get your popcorn and enjoy.

Great start to what looks to be a great story!

Where does Swarm rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Great Start! Can't wait to get more!

What did you like best about this story?

The trials and tribulations the main character Faces.
Despite his loses, his personal feelings & whatever urges he may be feeling.. He decides to start down a certain path although he knows that there's no possibility that the end of said rode is far from guaranteed except the knowledge that nothing he personally has lost will be returned to him. He moves forward, driven by unseen forces, things that make a Man.. A Man! I look forward to seeing where this man will end up landing.!

Have you listened to any of Mark Boyett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Unsure but I can say this book had me excited from start to finish of this series of books I couldn't stop, always in the edge of my seat, always looking forward to listening time, rooting for my characters & worrying how things will play out.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES

Any additional comments?

Seek out a Movie deal! If done correctly.. Allowing no external interference from "Tge Experts" this could be the StarWars of the new millennium if your given the freedoms to create the visual version of the world I'm sure is clear and crisp in your imagination.. I could see this becoming a icon if done right, you'll no doubt need to fight to stay loyal to your story but ask George Lucas what it feels like to have created such a complex universe for his dream to exist?! I'm sure he'll admit how many people wanted to change his story.. "Had great ideas", "Knows what the people want" etc.. Personally I'd rather stand strong behind my work & fail, then sell out to succeed!
