About this listen

If you're looking for information on how to prepare for a short-term natural disaster, this is not the book for you.

Best-selling author Jonathan Hollerman will present evidence that America as we know it could be destroyed in the near future from the loss of America's electric grid or other societal collapse scenarios. Many preparedness "experts" severely underestimate the threat posed by millions of starving, desperate people and offer dangerous advice because of it.

This preparedness guide will help you develop a plan to escape the deadly rioting and looting, showing you where you can take your family to keep them safe, even if you can't afford a fully-stocked survival retreat. Hollerman's in-depth expertise and recommendations will cover many topics including bug-out bags, SHTF Weapons, tactical gear, survival tools, knives, long-term food storage, livestock, bug-out locations, survival retreat recommendations, and much more.

Whether we’re focused on the apocalypse or just an ill-timed breakdown on the side of a particularly remote road, there’s something about imagining survival scenarios that can be addictive. On some level, we all wonder if we would have what it takes to pit ourselves against the worst the world can possibly offer and make it out alive. That’s why it’s no surprise that survival literature is so popular, and that the stories in the genre are so diverse.

Best Survival Book I've Come Across

This is my 3rd survival/prepping type book. The others were Ron Hunt's Survival Prepping: Essential Guide for Preppers, and Small Footprint Press': The Prepper's Long Term Survival Handbook & Off Grid Living. While the others provided some decent information, I found Survival Theory to without a doubt to have been a much better and well rounded book of useful information. Maybe there are better books out there, but I have not come across one yet. Do what you want, but I would not let the negative reviews keep you away if this is something that interests you. And if you don't like it, you have 365 days to return it with no questions asked. Also, I did not find it to be too "preachy" myself, but I can see how some who are "sensitive" to such things might not have an appreciation for the very last chapter. To each his own. This is EXACTLY the type of book I was looking for.

I do wish that it come with a pdf reference sheet.

Good Book

It's a good book. Not a great book but definitely not waste of time or money. Last chapter dedicated to religious stories and beliefs which I did not expect. I learned new things from it, it also refreshed my memory and knowledge from other books. I RECOMMEND IT.

Pretty Good for the Tip of the Iceberg

This was a useful tool to get one's feet wet in the area of what happens if there are emergencies which halt the normal societal avenues of relief, and plenty of good tips on what is possible for individuals to accomplish in such events.

Must Read

For anyone considering prepping or already in the process. The book gives tremendous insights and sets a solid foundation for prepping. From being ready when TSHTF, to knowing what to do, what you should already have. Product recommendations, what to have, to how much you need, and good insight into the type of area to have or go to. Solid ideas on how to survive the worst case scenario.

Good info to get started

this is a good basic overview to get you started. there was a little too much attempting to convince people to prepare. I was hoping for more detailed instruction on survival tactics.

Great book - condescending narration

It might just be me, but the tone of the book coupled with the stylistic choices of the narrator make for a doubly condescending listen. I think Hollerman is the real deal, but the occasional misspeaks (e.g. tourniquet vs tournament in chapter 13) and the overall cadence and tonality of the narrator make him hard to listen to. The book is overall packed with good information, and I will make my way through it despite the slight offense of being beat over the head by someone (narrator) who doesn’t know the subject matter that well.
