“Brilliant mythology-inspired world-building paves the foundation for Kaner’s fantasy adventure, but it’s the fully realized ensemble cast that, ultimately, makes the series so memorable.”— Elle

“An epic fantasy odyssey.” — Entertainment Weekly

Return to the world of Godkiller in this thrilling sequel to the #1 internationally bestselling fantasy debut

When Middren falls to the gods, your kind will be the first to die.

Gods are forbidden in the kingdom of Middren—but now they are stirring, whispering of war. Godkiller Kissen sacrificed herself to vanquish the fire god Hseth, who murdered her family and endangered her friends. But gods cannot be destroyed so easily, and Hseth’s power threatens to reform with even greater strength and a thirst for vengeance. As tensions rise throughout the land, the kingdom needs its Godkiller more than ever.

Still reeling from the loss of Kissen, young noble Inara and her little god of white lies, Skedi, have set out to discover more about the true nature of their bond. As the divide between gods and humans widens, Inara and Skedi will uncover secrets that could determine the fate of the war to come.

Meanwhile, Elogast, no longer a loyal knight of King Arren, has been tasked with killing the man he once called friend. The king vowed to eradicate all gods throughout the land, but has now entered into an unholy pact with the most dangerous of them all. And where his heart once beat, a god now burns. . .

Loved it!

It was awesome! Maybe it is already being worked on, but if not this series needs a movie!

an addicting stort and amazing characters

4.25 stars.

I love this series!!!! I binged the sequel in ~3 days after seriously starting it. The 2nd day I stayed up until 430 am and the third day I stayed up until 2 am. I couldn't put it down and kept wanting more... Now I'm sad I need to watch again for the 3rd boo.

This is a fantasy series I've been wanting for. *Stefon voice* this book has it all: Gods, powers, political dynamics, vengeance, betrayal, love, badass characters that make mistakes but they're trying to hard and learn / grow from it.

I do feel like some of the scenes go by slowly because there are 5 different characters POVs and sometimes their musings/ introspection take a long time... but honestly I didn't mind it because it is so fun and right up my alley. I also sometimes would get upset when it would end on a cliffhanger with one POV and then switch to anothers... But that's what makes a good story, eh?

The characters learn and grow, which I love the most of all. There also have different storylines happening at once with a few different POVs, but these weave together and eventually come back / complement one another, so it doesn't feel too tedious when it switches from one character to another.

Can't wait for the next one!!

Decent fantasy story, anxious narrator

I do not enjoy this narrator. I must listen at 2x speed to overcome her deep pauses and breath taking, and she only seems to know how to read in a frenzied, mostly panicked voice. It’s as if someone has a gun to her back while demanding she read them a story. The story’s good - fast pacing, well written, high school vocabulary (which seems rare these days). As modern novels go, it’s a well told and edited novel. The narrator, however, is painful to listen to.

It does end abruptly on another cliffhanger like the first - Godkiller. Four stars for the novel, 2 for the grating narrator.

Love this universe!

This book, though a different pace than Godkiller, had a good rhythm. I also love the characters and can’t wait to see what happens in the third book.

Might’ve actually been better than the first?

I enjoyed this book much more than I thought I would. I liked the first a lot, but I found it a little difficult to get through, despite excellent narration. The same held true for the first couple of chapters in this one, but man when it started to pick up, it really picked up. I loved it. Devastated now that I have to wait for the third

Great story telling

I really enjoyed the story telling in these two books and how they were able to cover so many gods and interesting little details.

A strong second book in the series

Felt the beginning was a bit slow for book 2, but the second half absolutely delivered. I am so invested and I cannot wait for book 3! Performance by the narrator is wonderful and heartfelt.

It was okay

Not as exciting as the first book. It felt like there was too many fillers and repetitiveness.

A bit of a filler of a book

I was somehow sure it was a two book series, but apparently not. I enjoyed the first one quite a bit, yet this one felt a lot like a “padding”, so - a bit disappointed overall with this unnecessary extension.
Performance itself is as solid as in the first book though!
