An excellent vignette to understand the pioneering days of Laconia

I read this after finishing book 8, mainly because I started the series late - chronologically, it was published between 6 and 7. But actually, anytime is good to read this one, to get a deep dive into how Laconia is like earth, and yet very alien. Like everything else in The Expanse series, super well written, deeply humanistic vision of what it will really take for humans to conquer deep space.

Exactly as depicted in the TV Series

A flight of fantasy to to Laconia, through the eyes of a young girl relating more to the world she's growing up in than the faraway culture her parents brought with them. Very short, and telling no more than the intro sequences to the TV Series in Season 6 of "The Expanse". Chronologically placed between "Babylon's Ashes" and "Persepolis Rising".

A strange story

What is happening on the far side of the Laconia ring? What is the fate of simple colonists under Duarte's... whatever is the government he made up there? How will protomolecule affect humanity overthere?

Gem

An incredible small gem. Opens windows into a whole other world...

Gives unending depth to the Expanse series and its possibilities. When you go alien, you go alien.

A series/mind-blowing read-listen.

riveting

the story told from the eyes of a young girl relating more to and adapting to the world she's growing up in than the faraway culture her parents long for is absolutely riveting.

Very cool back story

Something different within the universe, but very interesting story. Cool look at Laconia, with subtle back story.

Buy only if you want just a little context for TW

Cut way short if you've read Tiamat's Wrath first.
Too munch describing surroundings and not much happening.
