About this listen

Of course worry can be an important asset when it forces our attention on problem solving. But anxious worrying can cause us to unnecessarily focus on threat, to retreat and avoid, and to seek reassurance and safety - which is no way to foster a life of growth and excitement.

In his fifth published book, Dr. Reid Wilson proposes a groundbreaking, paradoxical approach to overcoming anxiety and worry by moving away from comfort, confidence, and security and willingly moving toward uncertainty, distress, and discomfort. Through the use of unconventional strategies, listeners will learn how to confront anxiety head-on and step forward into the face of threat.

Drawing on a range of sources - from firefighters and fitness instructors to Sir Isaac Newton and Muhammad Ali - Stopping the Noise in Your Head demonstrates the importance of shifting our perspective and stepping toward our challenges in order to regain control of our lives.

Really help identify how many anxieties I had

Well written, fairly easy to stay in tune with considering how complex and broad the subject is

Oops this WAS for me

I listened to this book for a friend and found that it was really for me LOL
Not the first time.
While I don't struggle with anxiety, I do represent several his examples AND solutions.

I figured out for myself to turn in to worry and telling "is that all you got".

This is a great book

This works!

I really got a lot out of this. I was stuck my exposure therapy stopped working. My boundaries were shrinking and my panic attacks were becoming overwhelming. This book was like reading my biography. It was the approach to my exposure that I had wrong. Changing the mind set from white knuckling thru the exposure to one of " anxiety come out and play" sung like the psycho in Warriors was the moment I got it. I have been taking back ground ever since.

Very Helpful With Anxiety

Accurately depicts the experience with anxiety and has a lot of great insightful ways to deal with the root, not the symptoms of the problem. Reader over pronounced a lot of words, especially "p"s and "t"s at the end of words, it was very annoying.

Poorly Read - Excellent Content

The author is extraordinary. His strategies and tactics for dealing with anxiety are exceptional, as evidenced by the many reviews indicating the book addressed and solved severe anxieties. That said, this audible recording is poor because the reader does not differentiate between the text boxes and the narrative text. The text boxes should not be read as if they were in the natural flow of the narrative text, yet that’s what happens here. I found it extraordinarily confusing, and so purchased the book, which was easy to read. While listening, the reader would run through many examples. These were bulleted list inside text boxes that are placed throughout the book to correlate to the narrative. When they are read as if they are part of the narrative it becomes confusing. I recommend this book highly; I recommend purchasing the physical book and reading it to get the full value.

A doorstep to some freedom

I enjoy Dr. Reid Wilson's laid back, competitive style of confronting anxiety. I am applying the technique and I am finding my days a little easier.

Excellent

I’ve read Dr Wilson’s other book - Don’t Panic and this is an excellent one as well. He is such a good writer and encourager. The first book and this one together the best books I’ve ever read on panic and anxiety with real solutions and things to do about it to reclaim your life. The narrator was the only negative thing. He sounds like a computer. I ordered the book as well so I could go back and highlight.

the narrator is absolutely terrible

the narrator exaggerates the pronunciation of every single word. It is unbelievably distracting. there is no flow every syllable is annunciated individually. it’s almost impossible to follow the message under the words
