Publisher's summary
In Robert A. Heinlein’s controversial Hugo Award-winning bestseller, a recruit of the future goes through the toughest boot camp in the Universe—and into battle against mankind’s most alarming enemy …
Johnnie Rico never really intended to join up—and definitely not the infantry. But now that he’s in the thick of it, trying to get through combat training harder than anything he could have imagined, he knows everyone in his unit is one bad move away from buying the farm in the interstellar war the Terran Federation is waging against the Arachnids.
Because everyone in the Mobile Infantry fights. And if the training doesn’t kill you, the Bugs are more than ready to finish the job …

Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Story
In what is considered one of Heinlein's most hair-raising, thought-provoking, and outrageous adventures, the master of modern science fiction tells the strange story of an even stranger world. It is 21st-century Luna, a harsh penal colony where a revolt is plotted between a bashful computer and a ragtag collection of maverick humans, a revolt that goes beautifully until the inevitable happens. But that's the problem with the inevitable: it always happens.

Story

RC Bray brings new fun to this SF Classic
I first read Robert Heinlein's "Starship Troopers" when I was 18 years old. It is a great story, with appealing and relatable characters, and it gave me somethings to think about. It helped me think about my responsibilities as an adult and a citizen, and particularly about the importance of my vote.
I've re-read "Starship Troopers" about once a year since then, and I think RC Bray's new narration really brings a lot. I honestly laughed out loud at Sergeant Zim's dialogue, especially. Bray makes the quiet moments pleanent and the tense moments exciting.

Holy smokes the writing is so good!
At first want to say that the narrator did a really good job bringing this story to life. This doesn’t have a ton of voice acting or anything, but he does a good job of adding inflection at certain points. Honestly, the writing is so good that I damn near binge watch or listened lol to the whole thing in one sitting. I was recommended this book and I was very skeptical because I’m not really big into soldier stories however, this far exceeded my expectations! I pre-ordered this because the other version of the story on audible is relatively poor by comparison, and so I patiently waited for this book to come out, and I was not disappointed. If you’re on the fence about snagging this title rest assure it is absolutely worth it.

i watched the movie, and despite the weak acting and mediocre storyline, it remains one of my favourites. however, after listening to this audiobook, i wish i had read the book first. the audiobook is outstanding, and Ray’s performance is nothing short of magnificent.
