About this listen

In the year before The Phantom Menace, Yoda, Mace Windu, and the entire Jedi Council confront a galaxy on the brink of change.

The Jedi have always traveled the stars, defending peace and justice across the galaxy. But the galaxy is changing, and the Jedi Order along with it. More and more, the Order finds itself focused on the future of the Republic, secluded on Coruscant, where the twelve members of the Jedi Council weigh crises on a galactic scale.

As yet another Jedi Outpost left over from the Republic’s golden age is set to be decommissioned on the planet Kwenn, Qui-Gon Jinn challenges the Council about the Order’s increasing isolation. Mace Windu suggests a bold response: All twelve Jedi Masters will embark on a goodwill mission to help the planet and to remind the people of the galaxy that the Jedi remain as stalwart and present as they have been across the ages.

But the arrival of the Jedi leadership is not seen by all as a cause for celebration. In the increasing absence of the Jedi, warring pirate factions have infested the sector. To maintain their dominance, the pirates unite, intent on assassinating the Council members. And they are willing to destroy countless innocent lives to secure their power.

Cut off from Coruscant, the Jedi Masters must reckon with an unwelcome truth: While no one thinks more about the future than the Jedi Council, nobody needs their help more than those living in the present.

This audiobook includes a downloadable PDF of a map of Kwenn

Great for the obscure Jedi

I loved how every Jedi was written. It has made me really love the Jedi we didn’t get to see in the clone wars television show

You know it's good

Only half way through, but solid story overall and as always excellent narration from Mr. Thompson!

Another Canon Miss

Whew they really put Mark through the hoops on this one. So many different voices and he does a decent job of keeping each distinct…if annoying.

Story is standard Disney SW mess.
Reads like a cartoon not a novel.
Any Immersion is due to Mark and the SDX team working overtime, not the author.
Granted giving each of the 12 council members + necessary side characters is a tall order to fill.
A few nice moments for sure, but if you’re on a budget-skip. This is not the SW book you were hoping for.

Dissatisfied ending

Inspiring

I listen to these books for the message, and this one was bountiful in that! From The Cave to This is The Way, there is a code of for secular life reinforced throughout Star Wars. Here we hear it from the most classic Masters themselves, at work and play!

A wonderful look into pre-clone wars council.

A great story and addition to the lore. The personalities alone through and add additional depth.

Mid story of mostly forgettable characters

This story was mid. Too much time spent with the villain so there was no mystery and her motives and payoff was ridiculous. Started strong and diverged down so many paths with like 6 stories going on. And the narrator was a champ with all the different characters but his actual narration was WAY over the top. Love Star Wars and this one was a miss. Read darth plageuis instead.

Good prequel-level story for already established characters

Good story. Would have liked a story that pertains to Qui-Gon and Obiwan that would see them leading up to the events of Episode 1, but this is none the less a good story that highlight each Jedi council member and what it means to be a Jedi.
