With a handful of murderous rogues, Captain Jed Foster has run off with four wagons containing new Springfield rifles, bayonets, and ammunition meant to resupply the troops at Fort Bowie in Arizona Territory. Foster plans to sell the weapons to the highest bidder - whether it's Apaches, Mexican revolutionaries, or Confederate veterans who still dream of destroying the Union. But that's the least of Foster's problems....

His junior officer, Lieutenant Grat Holden, is coming after him. With the help of an ornery ex-sergeant known as "Hard Rock" Masterson and fiery guerilla fighter Soledad, the young lieutenant will face off with war chiefs, banditos, and cutthroat outlaws. That's just for starters. Then he's got to take down a man who has enough guns for a small army.

J Rodney paints a verbal picture of the times and adventures of the scoundrels of the Old West! Perfect voice to transport you to the saddle and enjoy the drink awaiting at sundown.

I think Rodneys narration great he had me feeling like l was watching the book come alive .

As the title indicates the beginning of the vocals, a slow start, picked up speed that faster and faster, and was excuse me and finished with a good ending

it's a great story with a great performance. The Reader had an excellent voice for this kind of story that helped sell the atmosphere. If you like westerns or any sort of revenge stories, this one will definitely keep your attention. My only complaint I could feel validate on was the story seemed to end kind of abruptly. As if the author had more plans for the return from Mexico but he had to edit it out to save the run time from going too long.

Johnstone’s stories are nothing more than the same each and every writing.
No or weak plot. Didn’t count them but would venture not less than 100+ killings by gun and knife comprises the whole set of events. If that is what you enjoy then this and all of the other books by him are for you. Same old story as with all of his books- just new title and wrapper with no plot and very weak storyline. LL he is NOT. If you have listened to one of his “books” then you have read or listened to them all. Narrator only positive for this audiobook .

all I can say it's his worse book ever..couldn't finish it.i need to be more careful

The plot is great, the story rolls along in an interesting fashion and the characters are masterfully crafted. However, it is not an entertaing piece of work. It is more interesting than fun. The performance could have been more vivid, more alive. Sometimes I had to force myself to go on with the listening.
