The United States had launched a massive missile launch against China’s two invasion fleets sailing for Taiwan. B-2 bombers had flown across the Pacific and submarines had risked giving away their positions to add to the onslaught of anti-ship weapons fired by task force destroyers and B-2s flying out from Guam. China had sustained extensive casualties among its escorting warships and landing ships, but they had endured the crossing of the Taiwan Strait.

Publisher's summary
A hostile takeover. Political and economic chaos. South America is imploding, and a US Navy submarine and SEAL team may be the only ones to stop it....
As the winds of change sweep through South America, chaos and uncertainty reign. A radical political takeover looms, threatening to plunge the entire Western Hemisphere into turmoil. And the unrest doesn't stop there. Seeing the destabilization, China moves to exert its influence economically and politically-further threatening peace and freedom in the region.
But hope is not lost-a team of elite Navy SEALs and one submarine race to determine and then confront the threat. With the fate of the region hanging in the balance, they embark on a dangerous-and likely impossible-mission.
In a volatile political landscape where China seeks to expand its influence, the SEALs and submariners navigate high stakes showdowns and make split-second decisions that will determine the future of not only the hemisphere, but the world order.
Drawing upon decades of experience on nuclear submarines and the study of military history, bestselling authors Wallace and Keith present another it-could-really-happen thriller.
Contains mature themes.

Story
It was 1970 in a defeated Rhode Island fishing town. Vietnam and Nixon dominated the national news. Both the near and distant future looked bleak. But they were five inseparable high school friends with something incredible in common: an unwavering resolve to look after each other no matter what hell life threw at them. And they were on a mission. The plan was simple: Go off the grid before they turned 18 to avoid the draft. They’d sell some grass, stack some cash, then head west and start a commune. What could possibly go wrong?

The United States had launched a massive missile launch against China’s two invasion fleets sailing for Taiwan. B-2 bombers had flown across the Pacific and submarines had risked giving away their positions to add to the onslaught of anti-ship weapons fired by task force destroyers and B-2s flying out from Guam. China had sustained extensive casualties among its escorting warships and landing ships, but they had endured the crossing of the Taiwan Strait.

Why can't authors keep their personal politics out of their books?
Jack Carr yesterday And now these guys today. I don't care if you're a Trump supporter but listening to a whole book about how the president and vice president are illegally in bed with China and doing everything wrong is not what I paid for. not only that but the way they depict the president in this book is ridiculous. quite honestly the only president in our history that would flippantly call a sub by the wrong name is Donald j Trump. I'm just so disappointed at two of my favorite series are done because they just can't get over it. I'll never be able to buy another book by either author because I don't know what I'm going to get. It's really disappointing And it really shows the right wing bias against women and minorities when you listen to how these authors depict them being treated. The president is not going to sit in the situation room thinking how he hates his black female cabinet member but had to pick her because it's good for the ticket. this is ridiculous and it ruined a great series
