About this listen

Song of Night is book two in the best-selling epic fantasy series The Dying Lands Chronicle.

The veil has been torn.

The ancient dark has risen.

Dark harmonies echo throughout the world.

But the ancient Axioms of Light have been spoken once again.

In the midst of the Dark’s swelling tide, Reign Kerr has emerged with the mythical power of the Ancients, a power she wielded to defeat the brutal Borathein invasion. Reign must now discover the keys to the Gates of Confluence if the world has any hope of salvation - a journey that will unearth heretical secrets and change her in ways she may not be strong enough to survive.

Hedron struggles to rebuild Arlethia and solidify his rule in the aftermath of the Borathein invasion, but new threats arise from within and push allegiances to the brink. A subtle darkness stirs within him as he is called upon to look beyond his own people’s welfare, threatening to overwhelm him and put those he strives to lead in mortal danger.

Call forth the Heralds. Gather the Witnesses. Let the Blood of Creation again flow.

This series has been a great listen. Make sure you start with the Alter of Influence, it gets you into the world and gives you all the background you need to understand the world.

All the characters in this series are very enjoyable. All to often I listen to books that have a great premise but the characters are unlikeable but that’s definitely not the case here. I loved listening to the arc of each character. Every aspect keeps you engaged and asking for more when Cooper moves on the next chapter. Honestly this book is everything that I could have asked for. I love it!! Can’t wait for the next installment!! Oh and Micheal Kramer is great as always. You should definitely listen to this series!!

This is one of my favorites!!

It's a complex story. After reading the first book and the prequel, I can say that there is a lot to digest. I am looking forward to the next book to see where this goes. Before it comes out, I will be rereading both all three again.

A lot to wrap my brain around, in a good way.

Fantasy fans this series is incredible, it was a long wait for book 2 but it was worth every minute! I couldn’t stop listening. I could see this series going two to three more books easy! I would devour every one. What do you say Jacob? I hope we don’t have to wait as long on the next one but I totally will if you promise to make it this good!

Fantastic!!!

I thoroughly loved listening to this book the only thing I might dislike about it is now I have to wait and see if there’s a book three or other titles I like by Jacob Cooper.

Couldn’t put down

I've enjoyed every book Jacob Cooper has written, but this has been the best one so far. There's a lot more complexity to this story than I first imagined from the previous books and I love it! I'm really excited to see where this series goes from here.

Best Yet for Jacob Cooper

It's been so worth the wait! When I found out SON is coming out, I quickly binge read Circle of Reign and fell in love with the story again.

Song of Night is another binge-worthy read. The story just sucks you in. It's vivid and captivating in the same way that Sanderson and other great authors of our time are! Cooper does a masterful job. I found myself listening late into the night, and when I dozed off I went back and picked it back up again.

Last to mention is the masterful performance of Kramer. 5 stars for EVERYTHING. This is not one you want to miss!

Amazing sequel!

Song of Night continues in Cooper's EPIC style, which still reminds me of both Jordan and Sanderson. I can't tell you how excited I was to jump back into this world, and this book seriously expands the world! The writing and story are so cinematic, just like Circle of Reign. No screen required for this movie! Minor characters become much more important, and things seeded from Altar of Influence start to take center stage. I just can't say enough about the flow, the intensity, the high stakes... The characters feel apart of my life.

I lost a lot of sleep. The story would not let me go!! Even after I finished (the end is AWESOME) I'm still just thinking and thinking and thinking... BRAVO!

High Praise for a complex web...

This series is a whirlwind. All three books start near the end of a universal conflict with no depth to the origin story or development of the ancient characters which guide the events of the story. The history of said characters is very shallow. The story is like torn pieces of fabric being sewn back together, which I found a bit frustrating. Nevertheless, the author is favorable and shows some skill of writing and humor. I would be fairly interested to hear more stories written by this author. Kramer is one of the best narrators in his profession and is a perfect match for this series.

A tree grown without a seed.

Once again Michael Kramer did not disappoint nor did Jacob Cooper. This is definitely in my top 5 favorite book series. Yes the characters and storyline can be complex at times but it always kept me engaged, entertained and wanting to hear more. I love this very unique world Jacob Cooper has created and I thoroughly enjoy getting lost in it. In this series there are a lot of characters to keep up with but they are diverse and each very interesting and all play such integral parts to the story itself. Like the previous books in this series Song of Night is very well written and I am ready for another... I can't wait to find out what happens next with Reign, Hedron and Arlethia. This series and this book ticks all the boxes for me. I am a fan. Well done!

Love this series!
