About this listen

This post-apocalyptic dystopian short story follows Elizabeth, a mechanical and chemical engineer who used to work for a rapid prototyping firm. She uses the skills from her former life to provide for her and the woman she took under her protection, Melissa.

The two seem to thrive in adverse conditions to bring semi-modern conditions to their hidden camp.

But even after the world ends, you sometimes need something pretty.

Something Pretty

Any additional comments?

Another fine story by Erik Schubach. The only problem i have with it, is that it is a short story and not a full book. It feels like there is soo much more story to be told here yet. But no matter what it is still a good read/listen.

Excellent, Survivalist Short Story after Earth Hit by Meteor and Nukes

Earth has been hit first by a large Meteor, then the Government's left use Nukes on each other, now people are just trying to survive best they can on there own or in crazy groups who might eat you for food. Its not a nice world, Stepping into that world today is Liz on her Electronic Bike, not for food or for something they really need but for something pretty for her girl. The world has not changed completely. The story is so very well written as are all Mr. Schubach's, I think I have become his biggest Fan. He always deliver strong stories, with strong characters! This is a joy to listen too, even if you are not a strong sci-fi fan, the story of young love (for one woman for another) and the lengths she is going just to get her something pretty.

Cute short story

The story was fascinating, a lot of the elements were fun. The characters weren't bad. The narrative could have had more feeling.
That's not to say Jessica is bad as a narrator, she's got potential to grow but she has a constant tone in here voice that just READS the story as it sounds. Not enough inflection. Well maybe here and there like in the last two chapters. I chalk it up to nervousness. Other than that, I enjoyed the story. Good on you Eric

Hm...

The story was intense (in a good way) but the narration was a bit off... it didn't flow very well with the plot.

Yuk

MC's thought process about love interest was mysogynistic/anti-femins. Really hope most people (any gender/orientation) don't think that way.... After TEOTWAWKI the "hero" values a person/romantic partner so little as to think "I don't know why I keep her around"... Yuk...

Also re: writing style - really needs a refresher on show, don't tell.
