Publisher's summary
Slade Heston has been around horses his whole life. But growing up as a “rich” boy in Kentucky Bluegrass country is nothing like spending the summer as a hired hand at a Montana dude ranch with his mother, Darby, and the grandfather he never knew. A Western saddle, complete with saddlebags, doesn’t make him a genuine cowboy. Unlike his twin sister, with her perfectly planned life, Slade’s still trying to figure it all out. What he never expected was his attraction to a pretty visiting writer.
The white-capped mountains of Ghost Mountain Ranch are a far cry from the urban cityscape of Chicago where reporter Laurie Chastain comes from. She’s supposed to write stories to encourage more guests to visit the dude ranch, but Laurie has secret reasons of her own for taking the demeaning job in this godforsaken land. Had her grandfather really been a bomb-builder for a radical resistance group in the 1970s? What did the mysterious leader of the group have to do with it? Laurie’s only clue has led her to Ghost Mountain. She can’t afford the distraction of a broad-shouldered and entirely too-sexy man in a cowboy hat.
Someone knows the truth about the part Ghost Mountain Ranch played in Laurie’s life, and the terrible consequences of that past. But when the ghosts of the past threaten the lives of the living, will their growing attraction be enough to protect Slade and Laurie? Slade’s always kept his feelings closed off, but can he open his heart to love under the wide-open skies of Montana before it’s too late?"

Story
Obituary writer Nadine Barbault doesn’t mind being called “Lady Death”. It suits the ice queen persona she’s cultivated to survive the fast-paced Toronto Herald. So when Nadine learns that famous (and reclusive) author Dot Voline has died, she doesn’t hesitate to run the obituary…only to discover that Dot is very much alive. Nadine’s screw-up has brought Wesley Chen of the rival Spear no end of joy—she’s been a thorn in his extremely ambitious side for years. But the renewed interest in Dot also surfaced chatter about a mysterious past scandal.

Eight years ago I fell into a secret summer fling with my best friend’s little sister before our lives went in different directions. Now, I’m the grumpy to Juliet’s sunshine on a popular dating podcast we host, and when a wealthy fan gives us a charming coastal cottage as the biggest thank you ever, we head to the town where I grew up to give it a makeover. And find the house has only one bed. Located under a mirrored ceiling.

Story
Gabriel Ferrara is tall and handsome, and most days she wants to stab her eyes out with a pencil, anything to stop her seeing his perfection. How any female could work in these conditions and not be completely besotted with him is beyond her. Then he opens his mouth and she remembers why. He's bossy and sarcastic, with a wit so sharp it could cut glass. Every weekend is the same . . . while he's off living his dream life, she's counting down the days until Monday when she sees him again.

The description of the scenery in Montana.
It was a good book. Since it was the first one in the series that I listened to I was a little behind in characters and overall plot. I think everything would fit together well if I started at book 1 and then continued in order until the end of book 4. However, only books two and three are available on Audible at this time. If the mystery of the murders are solved by book four I would say it’s a good series. Traci Odom did a great job with the narration! I received an Audible promo code for this audiobook. It was my pleasure to listen and review it! Thanks.

Good story
A good story with interesting characters but starting in the middle of a series makes it a bit difficult to understand the entire plot. Will be a great series if read in order. Traci Odom does a great job narrating.
