About this listen

The game has only just begun....

Hall had thought he knew everything about the game, but he’s finding every day that things are different in this new, broken version of Sky Realms Online. There are new game elements, new enemies, and even new locations.

After just barely surviving his first boss fight, Hall finds himself in one of those new locations. He's become the lord of a ruined and isolated village called Skara Brae, deep in the middle of hostile territory.

Hall and his companions must make the long trek to the city of Silverpeak Keep for much-needed supplies, or they'll risk losing everything. He hopes the journey will help determine what to do with Skarra Brae, his new in-game home.

What he thought would be a simple journey through the foothills of the Thunder Growl Mountains becomes so much more. From raging undead to a gang war between two thieves guilds, Hall will need new allies to survive more surprises than ever before. And the threat of permadeath still looms.

The hit new litRPG series Sky Realms Online continues with Silverpeak. It's perfect for fans of J. A. Hunter, Dakota Krout, and Edward Brody.

Performed by Pavi Proczko, narrator of Eden's Gate and Continue Online.

Not a bad way to pass time - get the bundle!!

Before i start, don't make the same mistake i did. This is available in a bundle for 1 credit with the first 3 books. i got the first two books individually. Thank goodness for the exchange button!

Now on to the review! So as many other reviews have stated this is not the best LIT RPG but its not the worst. I enjoyed the story and the major side quest that took place. The only character development i noticed was with Sabin. I am starting to love her character. On the other hand Hall/Paul (the narrator keeps switching it up) is starting to get on my nerves. He keeps saying he isn't a leader but keeps being an a$$ about his choices at times. His relationship with Lee/Leigh is also strange, he is a bit obsessed and for no good reason and she doesn't really have that great of a personality. Sabin is much better, and her character has more depth probably because she isn't an AI. But thats my gripe. The rest of the story is not bad. New characters come along and they help with some of the dragging along of characters that make no progression. Not sure why Rockshard got such a crappy deal this book. I liked his character a lot in the first book.
The story does move along, no pacing issues, and it flows. So it wasn't bad to listen to while i worked.

Besides messing names up the narrator is not bad. I can still tell all characters apart and he is easy to listen to.

So would I get this book if there was something better, probably not. But if you have a spare credit, and nothing going on... get the bundle, LOL.

Epicness levels up!

Silverpeak picks up Troy Osgood's tale of literary roleplaying goodness right where we left off and takes the party on another grand adventure. I'm definitely reaching for Book 3. Pro-tip, listen to it while on a spring walk. Really makes the atmosphere of the story work. Bravo to Pavings Proczko too for a fabulous narration!

A Good Continuation of Hall's story

At the end of the first book in the Sky Realms Online universe, Troy Osgood was setting up Hall to the be the new leader of a town, so when this story set off in a completely new direction with a story away from his new home, I was intrigued. Ultimately, I thought Osgood got a little bogged down with a story in places, but I still loved Silverpeak and the directions that he's taking these characters.
I can see Osgood stretching the characters' and their POV's a little here with a few moments throughout straying away from Hall's first-person, and I really think that's going to be necessary as he expands these stories. There is still a lot of backstory for each member of the party that we can be clued into and now that it appears there is a larger story at play, I'm really fascinated by where Osgood goes next with this series.

Paul or Hall?

A bit monotonous. The narrator repeatedly switched between ‘Paul” and “Hall” from the very start. I overlooked at first (and it has been some time since the first book, so I don’t remember if it was the same) but the variance detracts from the listening experience... just one of those things that once you notice it, each occurrence makes it hard not to hear it every time.

Otherwise, wonderful pacing for the read, good voice acting and the author does himself credit. A nice sequel in the series!

Great Series

I really love this series so far. The potential for world building is really exciting in this series. This second installment follows the group of protagonists as they begin to search the surrounding area to their new settlement. Along the way Hall picks up new members for his group/settlement. The group, trying to create relations with a neighboring city, get caught in the middle of a guild war. The writing is really great. I enjoy how the author uses evoling quest chains to progress the story. I hope the next book will focus on world building and development of the main antagonist, who is only in the last chapter, a non factor for this story. The narration and production are great. I hope for longer books in the future. I highly recommend this series.

gaining momentum in this exciting fantasy world

Silverpeak helped spark more interest into the series. The prologue drew on my interest in learning more about the establishment of this new reality, and the one-two punch at the end makes me excited for the next installment. My favorite aspects of this series is the landscape and mystery of how this world came to become reality. The action is written very well, and the details of the setting are so rich that one might do better to get a paper copy so that nothing is lost in the reading.

The narrator is very solid. No concerns about any of the audio, and I'd say Pavi is one of the better LITRPG narrators around.

The LITRPG elements are interesting, but I rarely feel like I know how the stat notifications relate to the whole, except for maybe when the character gains a level. Unfortunately they often serve as a reminder of being in a game world, but lack the sense that I'm at my dashboard, fully aware of the bigger picture. The races and abilities that we encounter are exciting and goes back to how the action is written so well. Some of the action blends together without enough in between to keep me engaged, however. In comparison to the first book, Silverpeak produced more consistent engagement; the mission quests, character growth and mystery revelations all improved to help balance with the action-focused nature of the story. This is a rich world, and a solid cast of characters. I look forward to getting to know both better in the next book.

Definitely, should have started with the 1st book

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Overall this was a good LitRPG-like story. Not sure if it qualifies when it is no-longer a game to the main character. I liked that some of the NPCs seem to be gaining some level of sapience in the MMO world.
Unfortunately for me I started with this, the 2nd book and felt a little lost as to how they became stuck in the game.

I look forward to seeing where this story goes.

Keep it going

I definitely want more. Although the level progression is very slow the story and action are not. This does feel more like a fantasy series most of the time as the game mechanics and stats seem forced at times. I still enjoy the adventure and I am looking forward to more.

Well written but it felt like unfamiliar territory. A little forced but it was well done. Being forced into theiving didnt feel natual. But i still enjoyed it
